Abstract:
The various embodiments include methods for managing how a MSMS communication device that is accessing an arbitrary combination of multiple telephony networks processes paging collisions. The embodiment methods promote improving a subscription's page blocking rate by causing a MSMS communication device to implement a retransmission remedial action for a blocked subscription. In the various embodiments, the MSMS communication device may implement the retransmission remedial action by increasing a blocked subscription's priority during a subsequent retransmission interval to increase the likelihood that the blocked subscription will receive a repeated page message from its mobile network during this retransmission interval. In some embodiments, the blocked subscription's current priority may be based on the number of retransmission intervals that are presently occurring.
Abstract:
A system, a method and an apparatus are described. The apparatus includes a modem that responds to a thermal mitigation request by invoking different levels of thermal mitigation for different concurrently active connections. In some instances, the modem may invoke thermal mitigation with respect to a first active connection and refrain from invoking thermal mitigation with respect to a second active connection maintained by the modem. The apparatus determines the first and second active connections based on subscriptions corresponding to subscriber identification modules, an identification of a power amplifier or group of power amplifiers responsible for a thermal issue in the modem. The selection of mitigation levels for each active connection and decisions to invoke mitigation on one connection while refraining from invoking mitigation on another connection may be based on priorities of the active connections, including quality of service related priorities.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for antenna selection in a wireless terminal with two radios are provided. Signals received using first and second antennas are demodulated by first and second modems according to first and second protocols. A receive path between the second antenna and the second modem can be controlled to receive signals according to the first protocol. A performance measure of demodulating, according to the first protocol, a signal received using the second antenna is determined. The performance measure may be determined using a mirror module in the second modem or using a search module in the first modem. The wireless terminal switches antennas so that the first modem demodulates a signal received using the second antenna, if the performance measure for using the second antenna is such that the switch would improve performance of the first modem.
Abstract:
The various embodiments include a dual-SIM-dual-active (DSDA) device and methods for implementing robust receive (Rx) processing to resolve radio frequency coexistence interference between two subscriptions operating on the DSDA device. The DSDA device may detect when a subscription (the “aggressor”) de-senses the other subscription (the “victim”) as a result of the aggressor's transmissions, and in response, implement robust Rx processing to mitigate the effects of de-sense on the victim while causing minimal impact to the aggressor.
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed for control total transmit power within specific absorption rate (SAR) limits when a multi-SIM wireless device, such as a dual-SIM dual active (DSDA) device, has two active data communications. Embodiment methods include determining a priority of at least one of two active data communications based upon a measured condition of the wireless device, and reducing transmit power on one of the two RF resources supporting one of the two active data communications with lower priority. To identify a higher or lower priority active data communication, characteristics of the communications or data may be used.

Abstract:
A system, a method and an apparatus are described. The apparatus comprise a modem that determines frequencies at which a transceiver of a wireless device is susceptible to interference generated by a different transceiver of the wireless device, and that modifies a search for a radio access network based on the one or more frequencies. The first transceiver may be susceptible to the interference by means of transmission of the interference through one or more circuits within the wireless device. A threshold power level may be modified based on an estimate of the power of the interference. The threshold power level may be used to determine presence of a pilot signal. The interference may be modeled based on a list of frequencies associated with one or more subscriptions of the wireless device. An order of searching for pilot signals may be modified.
Abstract:
The various embodiments provide methods implemented in a MSMA communication device for managing a victim subscription's de-sense by proactively implementing an RF coexistence management strategy on the victim subscription when an RF coexistence event starts. In various embodiments, a MSMA communication device may implement an RF coexistence management strategy by determining when an aggressor subscription will de-sense a victim subscription and configuring the victim to anticipate and mitigate de-sense during the aggressor's transmissions. Thus, the various embodiments may provide dramatic improvements to the victim's overall reception performance and overall user experience.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for antenna switching without using a radio-frequency switch are provided. A signal received via a first antenna is digitized to form a first digital received signal. A signal received via a second antenna is digitized to form a second digital received signal. A switch selects the first digital received signal or the second digital received signal to be supplied to a modem to be demodulated. The switch may also supply a digital transmit signal from the modem to be supplied to digital-to-analog converters to and then transmitted using the first or second antenna. Additionally, when the modem is demodulating the signal received via the first antenna, another modem may be demodulating the signal received via the second antenna and vice versa.
