Abstract: Generally, the described techniques provide for protection mechanisms for sounding training signals transmitted between wireless devices when performing ranging sounding estimation. For example, sounding training signals may be encoded to include a sequence of phase rotations or cyclic shifts to protect the sounding training signal from peer devices. In some cases, encoding information associated with a long training field (LTF) may be transmitted either before or after the LTF is transmitted. Additionally or alternatively, a time delay may be introduced to the sounding training signal, where timing information may be removed from one or more fields of the sounding training signal and the time delay may be appended to an interframe spacing. Alternatively, a frame may be split into multiple frames with the sounding training signal in a first frame, and timing information in a second frame that is offset in time from the first frame.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for selecting a guard interval for transmission of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols on an uplink (UL) channel and on a downlink (DL) channel. In some implementations, a transmitting device and a receiving device can estimate channel delay spread (CDS) information for each other's transmit channels, exchange the estimated CDS information with each other, and select a guard interval based on the estimated CDS information exchanged with each other. The transmitting device can transmit a number of OFDM symbols separated by the selected guard interval to the receiving device on the UL channel, and the receiving device can transmit a number of OFDM symbols separated by the selected guard interval to the transmitting device on the DL channel.

Abstract: Systems and methods for calculating round trip time (RTT) between two wireless devices with respective clock drifts, while lowering the impact of the clock drifts on the RTT. A first RTT in a first direction is determined between a first wireless device and a second wireless device based on a first set of one or more messages exchanged between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. A second RTT in a second direction is determined between the second wireless device and the first wireless device based on a second set of one or more messages exchanged between the second wireless device and the first wireless device, and an average RTT of the first RTT and the second RTT is computed, wherein the average RTT has a low impact of the clock drifts.

Abstract: Method, apparatus and systems for detecting motion of an object or person have been disclosed. The method and the accompanying apparatus for motion detection include determining a plurality of channel impulse response (CIR) power profiles over a plurality of time sampling taps of one or more received signals, time aligning the plurality of the CIR power profiles based on time sampling taps of one or more occurrences of peak CIR power levels being above a threshold in each of the plurality of the CIR power profiles for generating a reference CIR power profile, and detecting motion based on a comparison of the reference CIR power profile to a captured signal CIR power profile. The detecting motion may be based on a coarse motion detection process, and followed by a fine motion detection process if a correlation degree threshold is below a level in the coarse motion detection process.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for interleaving in single user (SU) preamble puncturing in wireless local area networks (WLANs). In one implementation, a wireless device can identify an SU preamble puncture transmission, encode information for the SU preamble puncture transmission to produce encoded bits, parse the encoded bits into multiple segments, parse the encoded bits among multiple resource units (RUs) within each of the multiple segments, and perform a tone interleaving of the encoded bits within each of the multiple RUs. These techniques can be used in a 6 GHz band, as well as a 2.4 GHz band or a 5 GHz band.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques for range measurement between one or more wireless stations (STAs) and a first access point (AP). In various embodiments, the first AP may synchronize a clock of the first AP with clocks of one or more synchronized APs. The first AP may perform a synchronization session with the one or more STAs. The first AP may also transmit one or more Broadcast time-of-departure (TOD) frames to the one or more STAs. Each of the one or more Broadcast TOD frames may include a time of departure of a Broadcast TOD frame from the first AP. A second AP and a third AP of the one or more synchronized APs may also transmit one or more Broadcast TOD frames to the one or more STAs for range and/or position determination.
