A flexible hub for a disk is described. The disk includes a relatively large center hole into which a flexible planar member is mounted or clamped. The size of the flexible member is slightly larger than the hole, thereby requiring that the flexible member be slightly bowed or flexed in order for it to fit within the hole. The flexible member is preferably attached to the disk at three respective equi-angularly spaced locations around the periphery of the hole. In the center of the flexible member is a collar adapted to receive a protruding spindle neck from a spindle mechanism upon which the disk is mounted. The end of the spindle neck and the inside wall of the collar are tapered at the same angle. Insertion of the spindle neck into the collar thereby forces alignment or centering of the center of the collar with the longitudinal axis of the spindle neck.

The centering and clamping device consisting: a disk elevator, a disk support, a disk centering assembly, a disk clamping assembly, and a disk rotating assembly. In operation the disk is raised out of the disk insert tray cartridge by the disk elevating means and raised upward to engage a taper on the spindle of the device spin motor, moving upward until the cooperation between the taper on the neck spindle and the tapering on the disk centering collar cause the disk to move laterally until precisely centered on the spindle. Thereafter, the continued upward movement on the disk on the elevator lifting assembly causes a magnet located on the disk support means to come into magnetic contact with a steel plate on the spindle platform, thereby securely clamping the disk to the spindle for rotation. Thereafter, the elevator moved downward and clamping the disk from disk support means, thereby allowing the free rotation of the spindle disk and disk support assembly relative to a stationary elevating means. For removal, the above described procedure is reversed with the elevator moving slightly upward clamping into the disk support assembly, thereby the entire assembly moving downward removing the disk from the spindle the column moving further downward until the disk rests securely in a cartridge for removal from the device.

After attachment, the combination spindle hub and magnet cup are affixed to the shaft and the resulting subassembly is dynamically balanced. The motor using this balanced subassembly can be assembled with no balancing required after assembly. The motor can also be disassembled for repair and reassembled without disturbing the dynamic balance. The motor includes an air seal at one end thereof and is especially useful for disk drive applications.

An automatic lubrication injection sanitization system for sanitizing and lubricating a conveyor chain system is disclosed. The apparatus includes an inlet water line for supplying a flow of water, an inlet sanitizer line for supplying a flow of sanitizer, and an inlet lubricant line for supplying a flow of lubricant. A pump is operatively connected to the inlet sanitizer line and the inlet lubricant line for pumping a proportionate flow of lubricant and sanitizer into the flow of water, forming an outlet mixture flow. An outlet line receives and distributes the outlet mixture flow which is applied to the conveyor chain to sanitize and lubricate the conveyor chain. Preferably, the apparatus also includes two timers which each control a solenoid. One of the timers controls a solenoid in the outlet line, allowing the outlet mixture flow to be selectively cycled ON and OFF. The other timer controls a solenoid in the inlet sanitizer line and allows the inlet flow of sanitizer to be cycled ON and OFF. The method includes the steps of providing an inlet flow of water; injecting a flow of lubricant and a flow of sanitizer into the flow of water; wherein the flow of water, the injected lubricant and the injected sanitizer form an outlet mixture; distributing the outlet mixture; and applying the outlet mixture to the conveyor chain to lubricate and sanitize the conveyor chain.

A chemical generator having inlets for receiving multiple reactant and water streams; a dilution chamber; a reaction chamber operably connected to the inlets and to the dilution chamber; an eductor operably receiving the water stream from the one of the inlets and communicating with the reaction chamber for drawing first and second reactant streams into the reaction chamber for mixing. Float control valves interrupt the water stream to the eductor when desired amounts of the first and second reactant streams have entered the reaction chamber, the eductor drawing the activated solution of first and second reactant streams from the reaction chamber into the dilution chamber. The float control valves limit the residence time of the first and second reactants in the reaction chamber and selectively interrupt flow of the water stream into the dilution chamber.

The humidity and/or temperature of a gas sample is monitored so that these system parameters can be accounted and/or actively monitored and controlled. In one embodiment, a gas analyzer system (10) includes an input flowline (12) for receiving a sample stream from a patient respiratory circuit via a patient input module (14), an analyzer instrument (16) for obtaining composition information regarding the gas sample, a humidity sensor module (18) containing a temperature sensor (40) and a humidity sensor (42), and a vacuum pump (22) for drawing the gas sample through the analyzer system (10). A processor (28) receives information from the analyzer instrument (16) and the humidity sensor module (18) and determines composition information regarding the gas sample based on such inputs. The analyzer system (10) thereby allows for improved composition measurements and for monitoring the humidity of the gas sample to stay within specifications or preferred operating ranges of certain analyzer instruments.

An optical alignment device comprised of two "H" shaped structures may be used to precisely position an optical element in two orthogonal directions. Each "H" shaped web structure includes two flanges extending from opposite ends of a center web having a centroidal flexure axis. The "H" shaped structures also each include an aperture extending through the flanges and the web. The center webs may be resiliently flexed, allowing the angle between the flanges of each "H" shaped structure to be adjusted by rotating screws fitted through one flange and threaded to the other. The "H" shaped structures are mounted together so that their flexure axes are orthogonally oriented with respect to each other and so that the apertures of each structure are aligned to form an optical path cavity. In an unflexed state, the flanges of each web structure are nonparallel, so that as the screws are rotated to bring the flanges towards a parallel relation, tension induced in the screws minimizes backlash between the screws and the corresponding web structure to securely hold the optical alignment device in the adjusted position. Alternatively, an equivalent state is obtained when the flanges are parallel in an unstressed state and the mounting surface for the optical device is machined non-parallel to the "H" shaped structures. The "H" shaped structures may be easily manufactured using standard molding or machining techniques, or by being extruded.
