摘要: Apparatus for dispersing particles flowing from an orifice comprising a deflecting surface disposed relative to the orifice, wherein the deflecting surface is fixed relative to the orifice, whereby particles flowing from the orifice can impinge upon and can be dispersed by the deflecting surface, wherein the orifice is one of a plurality of orifices disposed in a wall of a conduit, and wherein the conduit has an axis which is oriented between about 45 degrees and about 70 degrees from the vertical such that particles can flow through the conduit and through the orifices by gravity.

摘要: A tubular reactor and method for producing a product mixture in a tubular reactor where the tubular reactor comprises an internal catalytic insert having orifices for forming fluid jets for impinging the fluid on the tube wall. Jet impingement is used to improve heat transfer between the fluid in the tube and the tube wall in a non-adiabatic reactor. The tubular reactor and method may be used for endothermic reactions such as steam methane reforming and for exothermic reactions such as methanation.

摘要: A tubular reactor having an insert for improving heat transfer characteristics of the tubular reactor. The insert comprises a catalyst and metal structures consecutively arranged in a lengthwise direction of the tube. The metal structures have radially expandable side walls and orifices for squeezing fluid between the metal structures and the tube wall. The radially expandable side walls form hollows between the radially expandable side walls and the tube wall of the tubular reactor. The radially expandable side walls deform responsive to the fluid pressure difference between the inside of the metal structure and the outer space between the metal structure and the tube wall thereby maintaining the gap between the orifice opening and the tube wall to adjust for tube creep.

摘要: Apparatus and method to improve flow of fluid through an annular bed in a radial flow treatment vessel. An elongated annular baffle is disposed in the reactor adjacent the bed to impart generally U-shaped flow to the fluid either prior to entering or after it exits the bed thus achieving an overall serpentine or reverse U-shaped flow pattern as the fluid proceeds from an entry port to an exit port in the reactor. Means are provided in the baffle to permit minor amounts of fluid to bypass the generally U-shaped flow path in order to correct fluid flow maldistribution through the bed that is attributed to frictional pressure drop in the flow channels adjacent to the bed. A vessel according to the invention can be operated with fluid flow through the vessel in either direction.

摘要: A tubular reactor and method for producing a product mixture in a tubular reactor where the tubular reactor comprises an internal catalytic insert having orifices for forming fluid jets for impinging the fluid on the tube wall. Jet impingement is used to improve heat transfer between the fluid in the tube and the tube wall in a non-adiabatic reactor. 摘要: A radial flow adsorption vessel is disclosed together with a method for assembling such a vessel and a method for manufacturing containment screens having bidirectional flexibility for use in such a vessel. The radial flow adsorption vessel includes a substantially cylindrical shell having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of substantially cylindrical screens disposed concentrically inside the shell. Each screen has a different diameter and a longitudinal axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shell, and at least one of the screens is flexible in both the axial and radial directions. Preferably, the at least one screen flexible in both the axial and radial directions is an intermediate screen disposed between an outer screen and an inner screen.
