Such novel pyrrolidine, or succinimide, derivatives may be useful as friction modifiers in lubricant compositions. This disclosure also relates to a method of using such friction modifier compounds in lubricating fluid formulations to lubricate machine parts, including gear, axle, engine, and transmission parts, and to lubricant compositions containing such friction modifier compounds.

摘要: A method of making 3-alkoxytetraalkylene sulfone. The method includes mixing an alcohol and a catalyst to form a first mixture. Alkadiene sulfone is reacted with the first mixture to form a reaction product. The reaction product is contacted with water at conditions sufficient to provide an organic phase and an inorganic phase. Subsequent to contacting the reaction product with water, the organic phase and inorganic phase are separated from one another.

摘要: There is provided an automatic transmission fluid composition comprising a major amount of a base oil; one or more friction modifiers, wherein total nitrogen content provided by the one or more friction modifiers is greater than or equal to about 300 ppm; and one or more ashless dispersants, wherein the total nitrogen content provided by the one or more ashless dispersants is greater than or equal to about 500 ppm. The automatic transmission fluid may have a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of from about 4 cSt to about 6.5 cSt and a Brookfield viscosity at −40 ° C. of from about 4,000 cP to about 20,000 cP.

摘要: The present invention provides a power transmission lubricating composition containing a base oil, a dispersant, a lubricant additive produced by the reaction of a dihydrocarbyldithio-phosphoric acid and a hydrocarbyl acrylate, and optionally a viscosity index improver. Improved friction performances in automatic and continuously variable transmissions are achieved by utilizing the fluids of the present invention in ash-free lubricating oil compositions for transmissions and axles.

摘要: Hydrocarbyl mercaptan is reacted with sulfur in the presence of added alumina catalyst. With tertiary alkyl mercaptans high yields of di-tert-alkyl trisulfides are formed with excellent selectivity. With primary alkyl mercaptans the process can be controlled to form products enriched in either dialkyl disulfides or dialkyl trisulfides, and in either case little or no tetrasulfides are formed. The process is environmentally friendly in that halogen-containing reactants such as sulfur chlorides are not used and thus the products are not contaminated with significant amounts of halogen residues.

摘要: A power transmission fluid composition having improved characteristics. The fluid may comprise a base oil and an additive composition including a viscosity index improving amount of a polyisoalkylene component having a molecular weight ranging from about 300 to about 3000 weight average molecular weight as determined by gel permeation chromatography. The power transmission fluid exhibits a kinematic viscosity (KV at 100° C.) of less than about 9 centistokes and a Brookfield viscosity (BV at −40° C.) of less than about 30,000 centipoise. Also the friction versus velocity curve for the fluid has a more positive slope at high speeds compared to similar fluids in the absence of the polyisoalkylene component.

摘要: The present invention discloses a process for manufacturing an alkylphosphonate monoester. The process may comprise partially hydrolyzing an alkyl phosphonate diester with an alkaline compound in a first solvent to provide a reaction mixture, wherein the first solvent comprises a mixture of an alcohol and water. The reaction mixture may be diluted with a second solvent to provide an organic phase, wherein the second solvent comprises at least one non-polar organic solvent. The process may comprise acidifying the reaction mixture with an acid, wherein the organic phase includes an alkylphosphonate monoester.
