A composition including, based on a total weight of the composition: 30 to 60 wt % of polycarbonate; 20 to 40 wt % of polybutylene terephthalate; 5 to 40 wt % of carbon fiber; 1 to 10 wt % of an ethylene acrylic ester terpolymer; and less than 5 wt % of glass fiber.

A fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composition includes a polypropylene polymer component including a low flow grade polypropylene and a high flow grade polypropylene, and a fiber reinforcement component. The fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composition is capable of being vacuum formed. In another aspect a thermoplastic composition includes a homopolymer component including polypropylene, a co-polymer component, an impact modifier, and one or more of a flame retardant component and a fiber reinforcement component. The thermoplastic composition is capable of being vacuum formed. The fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composition may be formed into an article such as an enclosure for an electrical component, and it may be chemically resistant to a medical grade cleaner.

Disclosed herein are methods and fiber reinforced thermoplastic composition comprising: a polyaryletherketone (PAEK) component; a polyimide component, wherein the polyimide component comprises a blend of at least a first polyimide (PI) having glass transition temperature of at least 300° C. and a second polyimide (PI) having glass transition temperature less than the glass transition temperature of the first polyimide; and a reinforcement fiber component. The resulting fiber reinforced thermoplastic compositions exhibit improved mechanical performance.

Disclosed herein are compositions comprising a polymer comprising polyetherimide, polyetheretherketone, polyamide, polyoxyalkylene, or polyalkylene terephthalate, or a mixture thereof, and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, wherein the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene comprises a surface modifier. Also disclosed are articles comprising one or more of the described compositions.
