The present invention relates to a process for the production of polyacrylonitrile by polymerisation of a reaction mixture comprising acrylonitrile in a solution where the solvent is a eutectic system comprising a quaternary ammonium compound and a hydrogen donor. Such process allows for the production of a polyacrylonitrile having a desirably high molecular weight, whilst polymerisation time is reduced, and where the solvents are environmentally benign, biodegradable and may be reused in the polymerisation process.

Such process allows for the production of an oil-extended EPDM composition having a certain high Mooney viscosity whilst still using an EPDM as obtained from the polymerisation process having a relatively moderate Mooney viscosity.

Such polymer composition can be produced by for example a conventional compounding process using melt extrusion, wherein polycarbonates and PMMA can be converted into a polymer composition having the desired properties without need for using dedicated process equipment.

The present invention relates to a heat resistant composition comprising polycarbonate and polyester, wherein said polyester comprises poly(ethylene terephthalate), that is substantially free of isophthalic acid moieties. The composition has a Vicat softening point, as determined by ISO-306 B120 at a load of 50N and a speed of 120° C./hr that is higher than the Vicat softening point of an otherwise identical composition wherein the poly(ethylene terephthalate) component contains isophthalic acid moieties.
