Abstract: There is provided a method for sealing a filling orifice formed on a wall of a container in a leak-proof manner using a stopper arrangement comprising a tubular member with a flange having an upper face, and a lower face for covering the orifice, and a mandrel with a stem which is housed inside the tubular member, the force necessary for rupturing the stem being greater than the force resulting from the entry and advancement of a head of the mandrel inside the tubular member, comprising introducing the stopper arrangement into the orifice, bringing the nosepiece of the riveting tool into abutment with the upper face of the flange, actuating the riveting tool so as to exert a tensile force on the stem and bring about expansion of the tubular member against the wall of the orifice and rupturing the stem of the stopper arrangement.

Abstract: An improved battery monitoring system for liquid electrolyte batteries is provided. The battery monitoring system includes a network of sensors for monitoring the condition or performance of a plurality of liquid electrolyte batteries, for example lead-acid batteries. The sensors are adapted to share data regarding battery condition or battery performance to a standalone device over a wireless local area network. A server in electrical communication with the standalone device receives some or all of the data for analysis, which can result in maintenance alerts and other alerts being sent to the standalone device. The improved battery monitoring system can reduce or eliminate the manual inspection of lead-acid batteries and can improve battery operation and longevity by ensuring an appropriate level of maintenance for each lead-acid battery.

Abstract: A prismatic secondary battery includes a prismatic hollow outer body having a mouth and a bottom; a flat electrode assembly, a positive electrode collector, a negative electrode collector, and an electrolyte, all of which are stored in the prismatic outer body; a sealing plate sealing up the mouth of the prismatic outer body; and a positive electrode terminal attached to the sealing plate in an electrically insulated manner. The sealing plate includes a gas release valve and an electrolyte pour hole and further includes, on the front face, a concaved flat face having an identification code. With the prismatic secondary battery of the invention, a jig for assembly or the like is unlikely to come into contact with the identification code during an assembly process of the prismatic secondary battery, hence the identification code is unlikely to be abraded, and the traceability is unlikely to be lost.
