摘要: A display panel includes a display area, a non-display area, a first substrate with first and second edges extending in first and second directions and forming a vertex, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a seal pattern between the first and second substrates to surround a display area with first and second seal patterns extending in the first and second directions and forming a vertex, and dummy spacers disposed on the first substrate within the non-display area. The non-display area includes a first non-display area between the first seal pattern and the first edge, a second non-display area between the second seal pattern and the second edge, a vertex area that abuts on the first and second non-display areas and is adjacent to the vertex of the first substrate, and an average arrangement density of the dummy spacers is smaller in the vertex area than in the non-display area.

摘要: It is provided a method of manufacturing a display device for which the damage caused to the display panel due to processing at high temperatures is reduced. The method of manufacturing a display device includes: preparing a carrier substrate including a surface treated region; laying a mother substrate on the carrier substrate; progressing a process of forming a thin film on the mother substrate; and separating the carrier substrate from the mother substrate by using the surface treated region as an initial separation point. Bonding is formed between the carrier substrate and the mother substrate during forming the thin film over the areas that are not surface treated. The two substrates may be separated by disposing permeating oil on the surface treated region wherefrom oil permeates through the remaining regions by osmotic pressure. This way damage caused to the display panel during thin film processing is reduced.

摘要: A liquid crystal display (LCD) including: a first electrode disposed on a first substrate; an insulating layer disposed on the first electrode; a second electrode disposed on the insulating layer, overlapping the first electrode, and including a plurality of branch electrodes; and a second substrate opposing the second substrate. Liquid crystal molecules of a liquid crystal layer disposed between the substrates are aligned to have pretilt angles in an alignment direction. The branch electrodes include a main branch portion forming a first angle with the alignment direction and a first center portion forming a second angle with the alignment direction, respectively. The branch electrodes include an outermost branch electrode, and the outermost branch electrode includes the main branch portion forming a first angle with the alignment direction and a second center portion forming a fourth angle with the alignment direction.
