A receiver apparatus, a receiver method, a transmitter apparatus, a transmitter method, and a chipset for estimating a position of a terminal in a communication system are provided. The receiver apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive signals transmitted from two or more antennas which are in an Access Point (AP) and have radial directions which are different from each other; and a controller configured to determine signal levels with respect to the respective two or more antennas from signal strength values of signals which are distinguished by the received radial directions which are different from each other, estimate a direction and distance between the AP and the terminal on the basis of the determined signal levels, and determine the position of the terminal from the estimated direction and distance.

A transceiver and a method operating the transceiver are provided. The transceiver includes a first communication module configured to receive a first signal based on a first communication scheme; a second communication module configured to receive a second signal based on a second communication scheme; a reception module having a low-power circuit configured to detect a signal in a frequency band which can be used by the first communication module and the second communication module; and a controller configured to establish channels for the first communication module or the second communication module based on a strength of the signal detected by the reception module.

A method and electronic device for receiving information is provided. The method includes transmitting, by the electronic device, a scan time and an identification of the information to cause the identified information to be broadcast at the scan time; and scanning, by the electronic device, during the scan time to receive the information. The electronic device includes a transmitter configured to transmit a scan time and an identification of the information to cause the identified information to be broadcast at the scan time; and a scanner configured to scan during the scan time to receive the information.

A proximity estimation method and apparatus are provided for measuring a distance between devices in a wireless communication system. The method includes transmitting, by a first device, a first signal to a second device; receiving, by the first device, a second signal from the second device, in response to the first signal; and measuring, by the first device, a distance between the first device and the second device, based on a phase difference between the first signal and the second signal.

A method and an apparatus are provided for transmitting audio data. The method includes setting a connection with a plurality of slave devices by using a short range wireless communication protocol, generating a data packet comprising the audio data, and repetitively transmitting the data packet to the plurality of slave devices through a multicast/broadcast channel a number of times.
