Abstract:
A process for hydrocracking heavy, high aromatic content feeds, such as cycle oil, using a catalyst composition containing a hydrogenation/dehydrogenation component, such as a noble metal, and an acidic solid component including a Group IVB metal oxide modified with an oxyanion of a Group VIB metal.
Abstract:
A novel synthesis composition of a solid acid containing zirconium, in addition to a rare earth element, such as cerium, has the potential for catalytic conversions of hydrocarbons, especially for isomerization of paraffins, ring opening of cyclics, hydrocracking, alkylation, hydrogenation of polynuclear aromatics, selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides, and oligomerization of light olefins.
Abstract:
A process for hydrotreating a hydrocarbon feedstock, such as light cycle oil, using a catalyst composition containing a hydrogenation/dehydrogenation component and an acidic solid component including a Group IVB metal oxide modified with an oxyanion of a Group VIB metal. The hydrotreating process removes contaminants, such as sulfur and/or nitrogen, from the feedstock.
Abstract:
A method for enhancing the activity of a porous crystalline zeolite having a framework silica-to-alumina mole ratio of 25 or more which comprises contacting the zeolite with a solution comprising a hydrate of trivalent metal fluoride in aqueous media under conditions sufficient to cause incorporation of said metal in the framework of said zeolite.
Abstract:
There is provided an oligomerization process. The process involves the use of a catalyst comprising an acidic solid. The acidic solid may comprise a Group IVB metal oxide, such as zirconia, modified with an oxyanion of a Group VIB metal, such as tungsten. The oligomers produced by this process may be hydrogenated to produce thermally stable lubricants and lubricant additives.
Abstract:
A reduction in the durene content of an effluent resulting from the zeolite-catalyzed conversion of a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 oxygenate such as methanol to gasoline is disclosed wherein either the total effluent from said conversion or a bottoms fraction thereof containing durene is contacted with a particular zeolite catalyst to convert said durene to other products.
Abstract:
Zeolitic catalysts containing framework displaced aluminum, e.g., steamed or spent catalysts, are activated by contact with aqueous fluoride solution under mild conditions. The treatment can enhance catalytic activity, ion-exchange capacity and crystallinity by replacing aluminum in the zeolitic framework.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for modifying a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite having a Constraint Index of from about to about 12 which comprises:(a) steaming the as synthesized crytalline aluminosilicate zeolite containing organic template material to decompose at least a portion of said template material and to extract zeolitic aluminum; and,(b) contacting the zeolite resulting from step (a) in the ammonium, alkali metal or hydrogen form with a dealuminizing agent which forms a water-soluble complex with aluminum to remove a further quantity of zeolitic aluminum therefrom wherein said treated catalyst is employed in the making of lube oil from olefins.
Abstract:
A process for hydrocracking heavy hydrocarbon feeds using a catalyst composition containing a hydrogenation/dehydrogenation component, such as a noble metal, and an acidic solid component including a Group IVB metal oxide modified with an oxyanion of a Group VIB metal. The hydrocracking product has high isoparaffin to normal paraffin ratios and with minimal ethane and methane byproducts at high conversions. The hydrocracking step is useful in processes for producing high quality lubricating oil basestocks, along with naphtha and distillate products.
Abstract:
There is provided a catalyst comprising ZSM-5, rhenium which is impregnated onto the catalyst, and a selectivating agent. The selectivating agent may be coke and/or a siliceous material. The catalyst is particularly useful for catalyzing toluene disproportionation reactions. Methods for making this catalyst and processes for using this catalyst in toluene disproportionation are also provided.
