Abstract:
A process of preparing a ferrierite-type zeolite, with high crystallinity rate and having a anhydrous stage composition expressed by the formula M.sub.x (AlO.sub.2).sub.x (SiO.sub.2).sub.y, M being a cation of an alkaline metal such as Na or K, or a mix of both. The process contains a gel-producing step, by addition of boric acid to an aqueous aluminum-sulfate solution mixed with a aqueous solution containing oxides of Na and/or K and of Si, without the use of a structural agent. The invention also pertains to any zeolite obtained by this process, and its uses.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the synthesis of a precursor containing silicon and aluminun and an organic directing agent for zeolite syntheses and its use in zeolite production.
Abstract:
The catalytic activity of a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite having a Constraint Index of from about 1 to about 12 for a variety of hydrocarbon conversions including the oligomerization of olefins to provide high viscosity index lubes is significantly enhanced by modifying the catalyst to reduce surface acid sites. This is accomplished by contacting the zeolite with a fluorosilicate salt to extract surface zeolite aluminum which is replaced by silicon.
Abstract:
Zeolitic catalysts containing framework displaced aluminum, e.g., steamed or spent catalysts, are activated by contact with aqueous fluoride solution under mild conditions. The treatment can enhance catalytic activity, ion-exchange capacity and crystallinity by replacing aluminum in the zeolitic framework.
Abstract:
A ferrierite crystalline aluminosilicate is prepared by (1) forming an aqueous mixture of an oxide of aluminum, an oxide of silicon, a metal cation and a beta-diketone as a template compound, (2) maintaining the pH of such mixture between 9 and 14, and (3) crystallizing the mixture.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas, the catalyst including a pentasil-type crystalline aluminosilicate catalyst carrier carrying thereon a copper component and a phosphorus component. The method is characterized by adding the catalyst carrier into a solution containing a copper component and a phosphorus component, or a buffer and having a predetermined pH adjusted with ammonia, and subsequently adding an acid to the solution so as to adjust the pH of the solution to 7.0 or less, to thereby incorporate the copper component and the phosphorus component into the catalyst carrier. According to the present invention, a catalyst for removing exhaust gases which is durable and which has a high NO.sub.X removal factor can be prepared in a stable manner.
Abstract:
Olefin oligomerization employing as a catalyst(a) a ferrierite of the following approximate formula:M.sub.x/n (T.sup.III O.sub.2).sub.x (Si.sup.IV O.sub.2).sub.36-x whereT.sup.III represents at least one element selected from the group of boron (B.sup.III), aluminum (Al.sup.III), gallium (Ga.sup.III) and iron (Fe.sup.III);x ranges from 0.05 to 6.6;M is a compensation cation; andn is the valence of M;(b) an X-ray diffraction diagram shown in Table 1 of the description;(c) a fluorine content after synthesis ranging from about 0.01 to 1.6% by weight; and(d) a Si.sup.IV /T.sup.III molar ratio of at least about 4.75.
Abstract:
The crystallization of a crystalline silicate product from an crystallization mixture is monitored by measuring the specific electrical conductivity of the mixture. The crystallization of metallosilicates, such as aluminosilicate zeolites, may be monitored in this way. Measurement of the electrical conductivity of the crystallization mixture may be carried out on line in a batch or continuous crystallization process. In a continuous process the conductivity may be monitored and used to control the crystallization process parameters in order to achieve a desired degree of crystallinity in the product.
Abstract:
This invention concerns a time-effective method of manufacture for a sodium ferrierite precursor of a hydrogen ferrierite catalytic composition of matter by crystallizing an aqueous admixture of sodium hydroxide, an aluminum compound, a silicon compound and a nitrogen-containing compound, which mixture possesses 1.60 to 3.40 moles of sodium oxide and 0.70 to 1.60 moles of aluminum oxide per 25 moles of silicon oxide. The ultimate use of the resultant catalyst is for excising wax from a lubricating oil (preferably a light lubricating oil) with or without the presence of metals of Group VIII and Group VIB on the catalyst.
