摘要: Greater error protection is provided to error-prone bits that are generated from irregular soft-decoded error correction codes. Error protection is increased to error-prone bits that of interest in a particular system (e.g., parity check bits). One or more extra bits are added to each codeword in the encoding process. The one or more extra bits correspond to lower weights. The one or more extra bits are discarded after each codeword is decoded.

摘要: System and method for code acquisition in a wireless communications system with a delay lock loop. A preferred embodiment comprises assigning a delay lock loop (DLL) to each path in a received signal with multipath, adjusting each DLL to maximize sample strength, grouping samples that are less than a first threshold apart into groups, adjusting DLL timing of samples in groups, regrouping groups that are less than a second threshold apart, applying a group decision to regrouped groups, and repeating the regrouping and applying until all groups are greater than the second threshold apart.

摘要: A system, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for decision-making criteria in a multi-mode, multi-radio user equipment to choose which radio network to use for connectivity and handover. Decision making depends on a number of different criteria: a user profile that specifies one or more user preference connectivity attributes, available applications of the user equipment, a service subscription of a user associated with the user equipment, a battery monitor of the user equipment, a respective link metrics indicator for each of the plurality of access networks, and application support capabilities of the plurality of access networks.

摘要: A method for automatically characterizing non-linearities of a perpendicular read-back signal of a recording system is disclosed. The method includes using dibit extraction to obtain a read-back signal having a main pulse and a plurality of echoes where the read-back signal exhibits a baseline shift. An area under the first echo is integrated to obtain a first area where the integrating subtracts any baseline shift area within the first echo and where the first echo is associated with a first non-linearity. The method integrates an area of the read-back signal under the main pulse to obtain a second area where the integrating subtracts any baseline shift area within the main pulse. A first parameter is computed that characterizes the first non-linearity based on the first area and the second area. The method may be applied to characterize several non-linearities.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for generating MTR codes with ECC without the use of a second MTR code, while still satisfying the specified constraint. In one embodiment, a system for processing data comprises a maximum transition run or timing-varying maximum transition run (hereinafter MTR) encoder configured to encode input data sequence from a hard disk controller into an MTR coded sequence which satisfies a j-constraint; an error correction code (ECC) encoder configured to generate ECC check bits for the MTR coded sequence; and a bit-level interleaving and substitution module configured to interleave the generated ECC check bits into the MTR coded sequence by stuffing the generated ECC check bits at boundaries of MTR coded blocks of the MTR coded sequence, to determine if a violation of the j-constraint has occurred at the boundaries of the MTR coded blocks, and to perform substitution of bits at a boundary of the MTR coded blocks to maintain the j-constraint if a violation of the j-constraint has occurred.
