This invention discloses a voltage-type gas concentration sensor and sensing method thereof. An ionic sensing electrode, a solid electrolyte membrane and a gas-permeable membrane are provided. The ionic sensing electrode comprises a sensing window. The solid electrolyte membrane is disposed on the sensing window. The gas-permeable membrane is disposed on the solid electrolyte membrane. By detecting the change of a reaction voltage as a result of reaction between the ionic sensing electrode and a solution to be measured, the invention is able to determine the pH of the solution to be measured.

This invention provides a pCO2 sensor, and more particularly, a potentiometric pCO2 sensor. The potentiometric pCO2 sensor has a substrate, a solid ion-sensing layer on the substrate, a solid electrolyte layer on the solid ion-sensing layer, and a gas-permeable layer on the solid electrolyte layer. In addition, the gas-permeable layer allows air molecules to diffuse through, the solid electrolyte layer change the pH value thereof according to the CO2 concentration in the diffusing air molecules, and the solid ion-sensing layer senses the pH change of the solid electrolyte layer to generate a sensing signal. By doing so, the quantity of the CO2 dissolved in the liquid can be measured.

An optical gas concentration sensor and method for measuring blood gas based on the light adsorption sensing technique are disclosed. The optical gas concentration sensor comprises a light source, a photo detector, and a gas filtering membrane for separating the indicator and a liquid. A gas in the liquid diffuses to the indicator through the gas filtering membrane so as to change the color of the indicator due to the chemical reaction occurred between the indicator and the gas. Then, the photo detector receives the light passing though the reacted indicator from the light source. The gas concentration is determined based on pH-sensitive absorbance spectrum of the indicator.

A multi-functional PH meter and the fabrication thereof are disclosed. The multi-functional pH meter immediately displays the measurement result on a liquid crystal display and saves in a compact flash card so as to provide portable functionality. In addition, the multi-functional pH meter has data communication functionality with a computer. Finally, the drift and hysteresis software calibration technique is applied. Thus, this method can increase ion detection accuracy and system reliability. The multi-functional pH meter includes a sensor unit, an analog signal processing unit, a microprocessor unit, the liquid crystal display unit, the compact flash card unit and a data transmission unit.

The present invention discloses a reference electrode. According to the invention, a capillary structure is plugged in a solid state electrolyte layer of the reference electrode. By capillary phenomenon, a test solution is sucked to the solid state electrolyte layer to have reaction. Therefore, according to the invention, a test solution can be measured by simply placing the capillary structure of the reference electrode into the test solution. The lifetime of the reference electrode can be greatly extended.
