    摘要: A biosensor for quantifying a specific compound has a reaction layer containing at least an enzyme, and an electrode system having a working electrode and a counter electrode formed on an insulating base plate; the biosensor detects the specific compound contained in a sample on the basis of an electrochemical response. In quantifying, the working electrode and the counter electrode are short-circuited before the voltage is applied therebetween. The short-circuiting eliminates measuring errors that may occur due to nonuniform dissolution of the reaction layer in a sample, and achieves highly reliable quantification of a specific compound.

    摘要: A biosensor of the present invention is provided with an insulating base plate, an electrode system mainly consisting of a working electrode and a counter electrode formed on the insulating base plate, and a reaction layer on the electrode system. The counter electrode is partially a circular arc. A manufacturing method of the biosensor of the present invention is comprised of a step to form a base by arranging leads, an electrode system, and an insulating layer on an insulating base plate, and a step to form a reaction layer mainly composed of an enzyme on the electrode system. Since the counter electrode is partially in the shape of a circular arc, the reaction layer is easily formed and prevented from delaminating, whereby the measuring accuracy, preservative properties and reliability of the biosensor are improved. The present invention enables highly efficient biosensors to be mass produced at low cost.

    摘要: In biosensor system 1, biosensor 2 is mounted in measuring apparatus 3 for quantifying or detecting existence of a targeted substrate in a sample solution. Mounting end portion 20 of biosensor 2 to be mounted in measuring apparatus 3 has an extension of one base plate in the length direction, and further extensions of the other base plate in the width direction. Sensor mounting portion 30 of measuring apparatus 3 has a shape matching up with the shape of mounting end portion 20. Thereby wrong insertion of biosensor 2 in measuring apparatus 3 can be prevented. Further, varying shapes of plural biosensors 5 and 6 to have a common part and a non-common part, such biosensors can be handily measured by one measuring apparatus 7.

    摘要: Methods are disclosed for measuring substrate content in a specimen using a biosensor that includes two pairs of electrodes in a specimen supply path, where the methods include the steps of: (a) a first detecting step for detecting an electrical change in the first pair of electrodes; (b) a second detecting step for detecting an electrical change in the second pair of electrodes after the first detecting step; (c) a judging step for judging a shortage of specimen amount that is needed for measurement, when an electrical change is not detected in the second detecting step within a prescribed period of time after the first detecting step; (d) an indicating step for indicating a shortage of the specimen amount; and (e) a stopping step for stopping measurement of substrate content in the specimen once the shortage of specimen amount is indicated in the indicating step.

    摘要: A biosensor is disclosed comprising a support; a conductive layer composed of an electrical conductive material such as noble metal, for example gold or palladium, and carbon; slits parallel to and perpendicular to the side of the support; working, counter, and detecting electrodes; a spacer which covers the working, counter, and detecting electrodes on the support; a rectangular cutout in the spacer forming a specimen supply path; an inlet to the specimen supply path; a reagent layer formed by applying a reagent containing an enzyme to the working, counter, and detecting electrodes, which are exposed through the cutout in the spacer; and a cover over the spacer. The biosensor can be formed by a simple method, and provides a uniform reagent layer on the electrodes regardless of the reagent composition.
