    摘要： There is disclosed an operation screen controlling method comprising: the step of specifying image signal for displaying an operation screen, according to the attributes of a remote control device; and the step of outputting the image signal. In a specific embodiment, a reception device 12 reads an identification code from a remote control device 30, and an execution unit 201 retrieves a remote control database 16 on the basis of the identification code thereby to read the arrangement information of the remote control device 30 used. On the basis of the arrangement information obtained from the database 16, the execution unit 201 retrieves a layout/operation definition database 18 thereby to read the definition of the layout and the operation methods of GUI parts suited for the remote control device 30 used. A GUI setting unit 20 discloses a construction, in which the layout and the operation methods of the GUX parts of the highest conformance are applied to the operation screen of a display device 22.

Further, when a memory card is loaded immediately after the television is powered on, a display application can be automatically activated. Furthermore, while a user is watching the television, the contents of a memory card is displayed on a small window in one part of the screen, and execution of the image application controlled by the user. In addition, no icons are displayed while an important program is on displaying. Moreover, since the same color and the same arrangement are used for the four function icons as are used for the four color keys on the remote controller, various processes can be performed for the image application.
