    摘要: Thermoplastic molding compositions are provided comprising from about 80 to 98% by weight of a polycarbonate obtained from diphenols, having a mean weight-average molecular weight M.sub.w from about 10,000 to 200,000 and from about 20 to 2% by weight of a polyester-carbonate and/or polyether-carbonate with mean weight-average molecular weights M.sub.w of from about 50,000 to 300,000, which contain between about 50 and 70% by weight of soft polyester segments or soft polyether segments with mean number-average molecular weights M.sub.n of from about 10,000 to 20,000. The instant invention also relates to a process for the production of said thermoplastic molding compositions. These thermoplastic molding compositions show markedly improved resilience properties compared with known polycarbonates and can be employed as films and shaped articles in all cases where, on the one hand, high notched impact strength at low temperatures, high toughness properties at relatively high wall thicknesses, and transparency are required.

    摘要: This development is concerned with an improved process of preparing polycarbonate molding compositions and molded articles having superior hydrolysis resistance, stress crack resistance and flame retardancy, by thermoplastically processing a partially crosslinked aromatic polycarbonate. A crosslinkable aromatic thermoplastic polycarbonate is subject to irradiation to cause crosslinking on its surface such that between about 5 and 50 wt. % of the polymer is crosslinked and it is then thermoplastically processed. This partially crosslinked polycarbonate may be blended with uncrosslinked thermoplastic aromatic polycarbonate or known flame retardant agents. This development is also concerned with the compositions or articles so produced.

    摘要: This development is concerned with aromatic thermoplastic polycarbonates with special chain terminators which give the polymers enhanced hydrolysis resistance and impact toughness. These chain terminators are alkyl substituted monohydroxy phenyls in which each phenyl is substituted by one alkyl group having 8 or 9 carbon atoms and about 47 to 89% of its hydrogen atoms trisubstituted on carbon atoms with up to about 20% of the substituents in the ortho position and the balance at the para position. This development is also concerned with a process for synthesizing such polymers by using such chain terminators as reactants in generically known synthesis methods for polycarbonates.
