A two-component composition is described which comprises A) an isocyanate component comprising an isocyanate-terminated urethane prepolymer, B) a water component comprising water, and at least one latent amine hardener in component A).The two-component composition of the invention is suitable as a sealant, in particular as a joint sealant. Particular advantages are that primerless application is possible with good adhesion, even at low temperatures, such as 4.4° C. or below. The substrate to be sealed are preferably concrete substrates.

A process of manufacturing an aldimine preparation, characterized in that at least one aldimine of the formula (I), at least one isocyanate of the formula (II), optionally at least one alcohol of the formula (III) and water are reacted until at least 95% of all the initially present isocyanate groups are converted, whereby the initial molar ratio of aldimine groups to [isocyanate groups minus hydroxyl groups of the alcohol of formula (III)] in the reaction mixture is in the range of 2/1 to 10/1. The obtained aldimine preparation is particularly suitable for the use as latent hardener for moisture-curing polyurethane compositions. It enables moisture-curing polyurethane compositions with a very low content of diisocyanate monomers, which cure to an elastic material of surprisingly high strength, e-modulus and low surface tack.

Dialdimines of formula (I) and emulsions and uses thereof. In particular, they can be used for the preparation of pasty curing agent or accelerator components for polymers having isocyanate groups, which lead to very high early strength, which have good flow behaviour on pumping and which can be formulated without VOC solvents, in particular without N-alkylpyrrolidones. These components can be homogeneously or inhomogeneously mixed in an outstanding manner, in particular in a laminar manner, with components which contain polyurethane polymers having isocyanate groups, the two-component compositions thus obtained curing rapidly, having extremely high early strength and remaining without annoying weaknesses.

A polyester urethane polymer containing isocyanate groups and being liquid at ambient temperature, obtained by reacting at least one monomeric diisocyanate and dimer fatty acid-based polyester diol having OH-number ranging between 28 and 120 mg KOH/g in NCO/OH ratio of at least 3/1, and by subsequently removing large part of monomeric diisocyanate by means of suitable separation process, wherein polymer has NCO content ranging between 1.5 and 6% by wt. and maximum monomeric diisocyanate content of 0.5% by wt. The polymer permits the production of moisture-curing polyurethane compositions for application in ambient temperatures, having improved properties in terms of open time, adhesion, application and weather resistance, with unchanged good properties of storage stability, curing rate, strength, ductility, elasticity and hazardous material classification. Compositions of this type are particularly suitable for use as elastic adhesives in replacement glass for vehicles.

A moisture-curing polyurethane composition including: at least one isocyanate-functional polymer with a content of monomeric isophorone diisocyanate of below 0.5 weight-%, obtained from the reaction of isophorone diisocyanate and at least one polyol, and at least one aldimine of formula (I). The composition has a low toxicity, good shelf life stability and cures quickly to an elastic material of low surface tack and good mechanical properties, particularly in terms of high tensile strength and modulus of elasticity at high elongation. It enables coatings, sealants and adhesives with excellent stability under outdoor weathering conditions and high UV load. The aldimine of formula (I) allows to overcome the drawbacks caused by the removal of most of the monomeric isophorone diisocyanate in terms of cure speed, surface tackiness and final strength of such compositions.
