    摘要: An improved process for removing metals from heavy oils and other hydrocarbon feed streams is disclosed. The process includes adding phosphorus sulfide to the hydrocarbon feed stream under suitable demetallizing conditions. It is believed that phosphorus sulfide reacts with the metals contained in the hydrocarbon containing feed stream to form oil insoluble compounds that can be removed from the hydrocarbon containing feed stream by any conventional method, such as filtration, centrifugation, or decantation.

    摘要: Metals contained in a hydrocarbon containing feed stream are at least partially removed by contacting the hydrocarbon containing feed stream under suitable demetallization conditions with hydrogen and a catalyst composition comprising an alumina-containing support and nickel arsenide, NiAs.sub.x. The life and activity of the catalyst composition can be increased by introducing a decomposable compound of a metal selected from the group consisting of the metals of Group IV-B, Group V-B, Group VI-B, Group VII-B and Group VIII of the Periodic Table into the hydrocarbon containing feed stream during or prior to contacting the feed stream with hydrogen and the catalyst composition. The preferred nickel arsenide catalyst composition is prepared by reduction of alumina-supported nickel arsenate with hydrogen gas.

    摘要: A process for oligomerizing olefins to C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 hydrocarbons comprises contacting, under suitable reaction conditions, at least one olefin having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms per molecule, free hydrogen and a catalyst composition comprising chemically bound copper, phosphorus and oxygen. Preferably, the olefin is propylene or 1-butene. The preferred catalyst composition comprises a mixture of copper(II) orthophosphate, zirconium orthophosphate and aluminum orthophosphate, preferably formed by coprecipitation.

    摘要: Unsaturated hydrocarbons are hydrogenated using a catalyst comprising nickel on a calcium phosphate support. The catalyst can be used in combination with a promoter selected from at least one of barium and uranium. Aromatic compounds such as benzene can be hydrogenated in this process. The catalytic activity of the described catalyst is sufficiently great as to permit hydrogenation under relatively mild conditions, including liquid phase hydrogenation of aromatics, thus prolonging the active life of the catalyst.
