A reception apparatus includes receiver and processing circuitry. The receiving circuitry is configured to receive a broadcast stream. The processing circuitry is configured to extract a service list table (SLT) from the broadcast stream. The SLT includes service information for each of a plurality of services in the broadcast stream. The processing circuitry is configured to determine whether the broadcast stream includes a digital rights management (DRM) service that is supported by the reception apparatus based on service category information in the service information for the plurality of services in the broadcast stream. The processing circuitry is configured to acquire DRM-related information, which is associated with the reception apparatus and delivered in the DRM service, based on a determination that the broadcast stream includes the DRM service that is supported by the reception apparatus.

A reception apparatus includes a receiver and circuitry. The circuitry receives audio/video content and acquires first control information that identifies application control information to control operation of an application run in conjunction with the audio/video content. The circuitry acquires a first table in which the application control information identified by the first control information is stored. The first table includes a time associated with a specific segment of the audio/video content. The circuitry acquires a second table in which application control information identified by second control information is stored. The second table includes a newer version of the first table and the time associated with the specific segment of the audio/video content and included in the first table. The circuitry controls the operation of the application in response to the application control information that is identified by the second control information and stored in the second table.

A reception apparatus, method, and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for processing an image in which a plurality of symbols is encoded, and an information providing apparatus for providing the image. The reception apparatus includes circuitry configured to receive or retrieve an image in which a plurality of symbols is encoded. The circuitry determines a set of luminance values used to encode the symbols based on luminance values of a plurality of pixels included in the image. The circuitry determines a highest luminance value used to encode the symbols in the image based on the determined set of luminance values. Further, the circuitry derives data values of the symbols encoded in the image based on the set of luminance values and using the determined highest luminance value.

A method, computer program, and reception apparatus, and information providing apparatus. The method includes receiving content from a content source, and displaying the received content on a display. A first trigger is extracted from closed caption data associated with the received content. The reception apparatus retrieves a trigger parameters table (TPT) based on the extracted first trigger. The TPT includes at least one event associated with one or a combination of a trigger identifier and a first media time of the received content, and is stored in a memory of the reception apparatus. Further, the reception apparatus processes the event based on one or a combination of a second trigger including the trigger identifier and the first media time equaling a current media time of the received content.

The reception apparatus includes a receiver, a parser, and a processor. The receiver receives closed caption service data. The closed caption service data includes closed caption data within a first service block having a service number in the range of 1-6, and non-closed caption data within a second service block having a different service number in the range of 1-6. The closed caption data includes closed caption text. The parser parses the non-closed caption data within the second service block having the different service number in the range of 1-6. The processor performs a function based on the parsed non-closed caption data.

A reception apparatus includes receiver and processing circuitry. The receiver circuitry receives a broadcast stream that includes a television service selected by a user. The processing circuitry receives a user selection of the television service included in the broadcast stream and determines whether the selected television service is a digital rights management (DRM) protected service. When the selected television service is determined to be the DRM protected service, the processing circuitry outputs a quick response (QR) code for display, monitors the received broadcast stream for a DRM license that is associated with the unique identifier of the reception apparatus, acquires the DRM license that is associated with the unique identifier of the reception apparatus from the received broadcast stream, and decrypts at least one media component of the selected television service using the acquired DRM license.
Abstract:
A reception apparatus and method for provider signaling. The method includes receiving a portion of a broadcast stream including low level signaling (LLS) information. The LLS information includes a provider count field. The method further includes extracting using circuitry a value of the provider count field. The provider count field identifies the number of different providers that provide LLS information in the portion of the broadcast stream. In addition, the method includes determining the number of providers based on the value of the provider count field and processing the portion of the broadcast stream to extract the LLS information until the LLS information for each of the different providers is extracted based on the determined number of providers.
