摘要:
A fuel composition containing a fuel additive which comprises a metal compound has been developed which fuel composition is stable upon storage. It has been discovered that a fuel additive comprising a metal compound and an oxime does not degrade a fuel, e.g. heating fuel oil, diesel fuel and the like, upon storage. Fuel additives containing metal compounds to function, e.g., as an agent to reduce soot formation and generally improve the combustion properties of the fuel may be added to fuels and stored without the build-up of gummy deposits and sludge in the storage container.

The organometallic complex is soluble or stably dispersible in the diesel fuel and is derived from (i) an organic compound containing at least two functional groups attached to a hydrocarbon linkage, and (ii) a metal reactant capable of forming a complex with the organic compound (i), the metal being any metal capable of reducing the ignition temperature of the exhaust particles. The functional groups include .dbd.X, --XR, --NR.sub.2, --NO.sub.2, .dbd.NR, .dbd.NXR, .dbd.N--R*--XR, ##STR1## --CN, --N.dbd.NR and --N.dbd.CR.sub.2 ; wherein X is O or S, R is H or hydrocarbyl, R* is hydrocarbylene or hydrocarbylidene, and a is a number (e.g., zero to about 10). Useful metals include Na, K, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ti, Zr, V, Cr, Mo, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, Zn, B, Pb, Sb, and mixtures of two or more thereof. This invention is also directed to methods of operating a diesel engine equipped with an exhaust system particulate trap using the foregoing low-sulfur diesel fuels.

It has been found that a composition comprising an alkoxy alcohol, an aliphatic alcohol, a liquid petroleum distillate, a liquid fatty acid, a volatile nitrogen base, polyisobutenyl aminoethylethanolamine, and water may be used as an engine deposit cleaner which removes air and fuel induction system deposits, valve deposits, and combustion chamber deposits. The inventive composition may be introduced into the engine in lieu of fuel, or in conjunction with fuel while the engine is operating.

A formate salt based heat transfer fluid having a pH containing a phosphate for a secondary refrigeration loop is disclosed. The formate based heat transfer fluid generally is a more effective heat transfer medium than a glycol based fluid designed to operate in the same temperature range. The formate based fluid also has lower toxicity and environmental risks than the glycol fluid.
