摘要: The suture is released by opening and withdrawing the tip from the guide. The suture is recovered by using the guide to redirect the tip and puncturing the tissue opposite the first point of insertion. The tip grasps the suture and pulls the suture through the guide. The suture is pulled outside the wound, providing for rapid closure of the surgical incision. The guide is insertable within the wound to be closed and guides the surgical instrument at a predetermined angle from the longitudinal axis of the guide for optimum wound closure. The surgical instrument and method may be used to advantageously shorten and strengthen ligaments. For example, by gathering and reinforcing the round ligament that supports a woman's uterus with suture materials, surgeons can reposition and stabilize a retroverted uterus. Other devices may be also used in connection with retracting and reinforcing connective tissue. For example, rather than relying entirely on suture material to hold connective tissue in a retracted state, a device having one or more anchors may be inserted into connective tissue.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided that enable probabilistic application of data traffic scanning in an effort to catch malicious software or code being carried by the data traffic. The methodology and systems operate by monitoring data traffic in an data network via an interface with the data network, calculating a first conditional probability that content in first given data traffic being monitored is malicious, calculating a second conditional probability that content in second given data traffic being monitored is malicious, ranking the first and second conditional probabilities resulting in ranked conditional probabilities, and performing at least one of anti-virus (AV) or anti-malware (AM) scanning of the content of the first or second given data traffic depending on whose conditional probability is ranked higher in the ranked conditional probabilities.

摘要: A fire fighting fluid delivery system includes a fire fighting fluid delivery device, a pressure sensor, which senses fluid pressure at the fluid delivery device and generates a pressure signal indicative of the fluid pressure, and a wireless transmitter for transmitting the pressure signal. The fluid delivery system further includes a fire fighting fluid input device which is in fluid communication with the fluid delivery device and a wireless receiver that receives the pressure signal. In addition, the system includes a pressure gauge in communication with the receiver, which displays a pressure reading based on the pressure signal received by the receiver wherein a pump operator may selectively adjust the delivery of fluid to the fluid delivery device from the fluid input device based on the pressure reading displayed at the pressure gauge.

摘要: The present invention provides apparatus and methods for adjusting the atmosphere within a substantially sealed chamber containing respiring produce. The chamber of the present invention includes inlet means to permit ambient atmosphere to enter the chamber, and outlet means to permit chamber atmosphere to exit the chamber. Methods using apparatus of the present invention comprise: (a) monitoring the oxygen concentration within the chamber; (b) following detection that the oxygen concentration in the chamber has fallen below a predetermined amount, opening the inlet means so that the amount of oxygen in the chamber increases; and (c) removing carbon dioxide from the chamber atmosphere substantially at a predetermined rate, the predetermined rate having been selected such that the carbon dioxide concentration within the chamber atmosphere does not substantially exceed a predetermined amount. The methods may also comprise opening the inlet means for a time that is approximately proportional to the difference between the detected oxygen concentration and an oxygen setpoint.

摘要: A vending machine installation includes a misting accessory which discharges an evaporative cooling mist and is provided for interactive operation by a customer purchasing a product. The misting accessory is disposed above the vending machine or machines and includes a mist nozzle assembly within a simulated beverage bottle surrounded by a simulated bed of ice. Also provided is a sound generator for simulating the sound of gas escaping from the opening of the container of the beverage in response to vend signals generated by the customer operating the machine. The sound generator and the mister are initiated simultaneously. The simulated beverage bottle may be provided with a hinged bottle cap which flips open during operation of the mister. A pavilion incorporating vending machines and an array of misting nozzle assemblies provides evaporative cooling to persons within the pavilion. The vending machine installation and the pavilion employ nozzle assemblies which discharge an evaporative cooling mist formed by combining a water/air mist and an air delivery current.
