摘要: Mixed matrix composite (MMC) membranes with minimal macrovoids and defects are provided by the current invention. MMC Membranes are needed that have minimal macrovoids and defects, provide consistent and good selectivity and permeability performance, provide the mechanical strength required to withstand high membrane differential pressures, and exhibit sufficient flexibility and can easily be formed into desirable membrane forms. MMC Membranes made from a spinning dope that is stabilized with an electrostabilizing additive, particularly an acid additive, results in membranes, particularly hollow fiber membranes that have minimal macrovoids and defects. Thus, membranes of the current invention are particularly suitable for high trans-membrane pressure applications, particularly for separating oxygen/nitrogen, hydrogen/hydrocarbon, and carbon dioxide/hydrocarbon components of a stream.

摘要: This abstract discusses producing mixed matrix composite (MMC) membranes with a good balance of permeability and selectivity. MMC membranes are particularly needed for separating fluids in oxygen/nitrogen separation processes, processes for removing carbon dioxide from hydrocarbons or nitrogen, and the separation of hydrogen from petrochemical and oil refining streams. MMC Membranes made using washed sieve material, such as washed SSZ-13 sieve material, provide surprisingly good permeability and selectivity. The method of the current invention produces a fluid separation membrane by providing a polymer and a washed molecular sieve material, then synthesizing a concentrated suspension of a solvent, the polymer, and the washed molecular sieve material. The concentrated suspension is used to form the fluid separation membrane of the desired configuration. Membranes of the current invention can be formed into hollow fiber membranes that are particularly suitable for high trans-membrane pressure applications.

摘要: This abstract discusses producing mixed matrix composite (MMC) membranes using polyimide polymers. Polyimide MMC membranes of the current invention are particularly useful for the production of oxygen-enriched air or nitrogen-enriched-air, for the separation of carbon dioxide from hydrocarbons or nitrogen, and the separation of helium from various streams. Membranes of polyimide polymers, such as polyimide polymers sold under the tradename P-84, are mixed with molecular sieve materials, such as SSZ-13, to make MMC membranes. The MMC membranes of the invention provide improved membrane performance compared to polymer only membranes, particularly when used to form asymmetric film membranes. The MMC films exhibit consistent permeation performance as dense film or asymmetric film membranes, and do not interact with components of the process streams, such as organic solvents. The membranes of the invention exhibit particularly surprisingly good selectivity for the fluids of interest.

摘要: An improved electrical component, such as a capacitor, is fabricated from a porous plug formed from metal impregnated with a ceramic material. In the case of a capacitor, the ceramic material is a dielectric composition. A metal which does not oxidize at temperatures close to the ceramic sintering temperature can be used to fabricate the plug. A first lead is attached directly to the plug. The plug is infiltrated and coated with a layer of the ceramic material. The plug which is infiltrated and coated with ceramic material is fired to sinter the dielectric. A second lead is then attached to the layer of ceramic and if a dielectric ceramic composition was used, then a capacitor is formed.

摘要: A method and system for performing one-to-many synchronization using a central server and also using downloadable client software. The system includes a central server, e.g., a web server or an enterprise server, that synchronizes with multiple electronic devices including, for example, a personal digital assistant, a laptop computer, a desktop computer, a cell phone, a pager, etc. Before the data synchronization takes place, and after the electronic device initiates communication with the server, the server downloads client software to the electronic device. The client software allows the electronic device to perform data synchronization with the server. After the synchronization is complete, the client software may be removed from the electronic device. The server data is located in one place and can be accessed from any location using almost any electronic device and the data can be readily protected. The invention provides geographically independent synchronization for the same device. The invention reduces the amount of metadata required to perform synchronization, eliminates slow synchronizations and also operates on standard or pre-existing data structures. The shared client software technique also reduces software maintenance and administrative issues and is helpful for application service providers (ASPS).

摘要: A method of separating or concentrating hydrocarbon-containing gas mixtures such as hydrogen from hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide from hydrocarbons, nitrogen from hydrocarbons, and hydrocarbons from one another using a selectively permeable membrane. The method is well suited to separate hydrocarbon-containing mixtures such as those generated by petroleum refining industries, petrochemical industries, natural gas processing, and the like. The membranes exhibit extremely good resistance to plasticization by hydrocarbon components in the gas mixture under practical industrial process conditions.

摘要: A method for manufacturing ceramic capacitors of the lead filled type comprises coating the end surfaces of a ceramic monolith having internal voids opening to the ends with a termination paste. The paste includes glass frit, a metal component wettable by lead, i.e. silver, binder and solvent, the characterizing feature of the paste being the inclusion of reducible metal salts of a metal wettable by lead, the salts undergoing volumetric diminution when reduced from the salt to the metallic state. When the termination paste is sintered, reduction of the metallic salt provides the termination with a porous latticework. Molten lead or lead alloys are injected through the now porous, sintered termination paste. The disclosure further relates to a capacitor made in accordance with the method described.
