摘要: In a planar view of a ceramic capacitor that has low ESL and is embeddable into a substrate, lengths of first and second external electrodes are L1, lengths from portions of the first and second external electrodes farthest from a capacitor main body to portions closer to the capacitor main body by about 40% of a thickness of the first or second external electrode in a laminating direction are L2, a ratio L2/L1 is about 80% or more and about 90% or less. In the planar view, a length of a third external electrode is L3, a length from a portion of the third external electrode farthest from the capacitor main body to a portion closer to the capacitor main body by about 40% of a thickness of the third external electrode in the laminating direction is L4, a ratio L4/L3 is about 80% or more.

摘要: As system is disclosed for providing power averaging for the utility grids and more specifically to utilizing a unique EESU unit with the capability to store electrical energy over 24 hour periods each day and provide power averaging to homes, commercial, and industrial sites to reduce the peak power requirements. Charging such power averaging units during the non-peak times and delivering the energy during the peak-demands times provides for more efficient utilization of utility-grid power-generating plants and the already existing power transmission lines. Such a unit may also have the capability of isolating the users from utility-grid power failures, transients, and AC noise.

摘要: An electrical multilayer component comprising a sintered monolithic body and a method for the manufacture of the component. The sintered monolithic ceramic body of the electrical multilayer component includes cavities which alternate between layers, and are open toward end faces which are on opposite sides. The cavities also open toward lateral surfaces of the ceramic body over their entire lengths. The cavities contain ceramic particles which are distributed therethrough to act as supporting elements and are completely filled with a metal or metal alloy whose melting temperature is considerably lower than the sintering temperature of the ceramic body. The metal or alloy has the property of wetting the surfaces of the ceramic layers in the cavities in the molten condition. Contact elements are then applied to the end faces, the contact elements being impervious to the metal melt. Spaces free of metal are present in the cavities at the lateral surfaces of the ceramic body.

摘要: A centrifugal injection machine comprises a rotor arm bearing at each of a pair of free ends a pivotably mounted container. A holder which retains a multiplicity of workpieces is insertable into a capsule or cavity within each container. The rotary arm contains a reservoir associated with each container or liquifying a charge of material. Upon rotation of the machine at a high velocity, the liquified material is transferred from the reservoir to the container in a vacuum and is pressurized therein as a result of centripetal acceleration. Upon the termination of a predetermined interval, a trip mechanism is activated to rotate the containers so that the molten liquid which has not been injected under pressure into recesses in the workpieces is ejected or discharged from the containers. The containers rotate within a vacuum chamber which is depressurized prior to the centrifuge operation.

摘要: Ceramic capacitors are made by printing green ceramic limps with a fugitive electrode material, stacking the printed limps and firing the stacked assembly to form the ceramic and remove the fugitive electrodes. This provides an array of laminar voids in the body. The ceramic is doped to form boundary layers, terminations are applied, and the voids are then filled, such as by vacuum impregnation, with an electrode metal.

摘要: A multilayer ceramic dielectric capacitor comprises a plurality of layers of dielectric arranged in a stack. Between the dielectric layers are arranged metallic electrodes. Alternate electrodes in the stack extend to opposite end faces thereof, where they are electrically connected by end terminations. The electrodes each comprise a plurality of parallel conductive elements provided between two adjacent dielectric layers. The adjacent dielectric layers are bonded together along three of their edges and at the gaps between the conductive elements, thus providing a stronger structure than when the adjacent layers are only bonded at the three of their edges. The electrode pattern comprised by a plurality of parallel elements is particularly applicable to metal-impregnated ceramic dielectric capacitors, which employ fugitive electrodes that are burnt away during firing of the ceramic to leave spaces for subsequent metal impregnation.

摘要: A sintered ceramic article which comprises internal electrodes and/or conductors is formed by producing a sintered ceramic body that has areas of ceramic material extending to an outer face thereof, said areas having an open structure characterized by interconnected voids, and thereafter providing a conductor in said porous areas. The ceramic body may be formed by depositing, for example by screen printing, on sheets of a powdered dielectric or insulating ceramic material bonded with a temporary bond, an area of a temporarily bonded powdered ceramic material which on firing becomes porous, i.e. open-structured, consolidating a plurality of such sheets, and sintering them. Subsequently, electrodes or conductors may be provided in the open-structured areas by impregnating said areas with a metal or alloy and providing a termination electrode on the said outer face. If desired, an open-structured permeable barrier can be provided on said outer face before such impregnation. The barrier may be either a porous ceramic or a porous conductive coating which serves as a termination electrode.

摘要: A monolithic, multilayer, ceramic capacitor is formed by introducing molten metal into a matrix having thin electrode regions between dielectric strata, through holes, each of which extends through a face of said matrix and provides communication between the outside of said matrix and at least one of said regions, around wires or rods inserted in said holes, thereby providing external leads for said capacitor. A similar process is used to provide internal and external connectors for multilayer, ceramic, circuit boards.
