Abstract: An anti-counterfeiting medium includes a recording medium, a polarizer layer arranged on a part of the recording medium. The polarizer layer is formed thereon with a low extinction-ratio area that forms an image portion where a polarizer exhibits an extinction ratio lower than in a portion other than the low extinction-ratio area of the polarizer layer. The recording medium is formed thereon with an image portion that is a part of the recording medium and has a nature different from that of a portion other than the part of the recording medium.

Abstract: An anti-counterfeit medium, a method for manufacturing the same and a method for preventing counterfeiting are provided. The anti-counterfeit medium includes a retardation layer having birefringence and a reflection layer, and identification data is recorded in the anti-counterfeit medium. The identification data is divided into a plurality of partial images, and a plurality of transparent areas which correspond to the plurality of partial images are disposed adjacent to each other in the same plane so as to form the retardation layer, the plurality of transparent areas having optical axes which are oriented in different directions from each other in a rotation direction. The identification data includes biometric information.

Abstract: A display includes a first optical effect layer including a first interface part, the first interface part being provided with recesses or protrusions arranged two-dimensionally at the minimum center-to-center distance in a range of 200 nm to 500 nm, each of the recesses or protrusions having a forward-tapered shape; a reflective material layer covering at least a part of the first interface part; and a second optical effect layer including, at a position of a first portion of the first interface part that is covered with the reflective material layer, a portion that faces the reflective material layer with the first optical effect layer interposed therebetween or faces the first optical effect layer with the reflective material layer interposed therebetween, the second optical effect layer containing at least one of a cholesteric liquid crystal, a pearl pigment and a multilayer interference film.

Abstract: An anti-counterfeit medium includes a portion having optical transparency, a retardation layer facing the portion and including regions whose slow axis directions are different from each other, and a polarizing layer facing the retardation layer at a position of the portion. The anti-counterfeit medium includes only the polarizing layer as a polarizer. A portion out of the anti-counterfeit medium where the portion, the retardation layer, and the polarizing layer form a stacked structure has optical transparency.

Abstract: An oriented film includes first to fourth regions having first to fourth orientation angles. First polarized light having a first intensity is radiated onto the first and second regions of a photosensitive film. Second polarized light having a second intensity is radiated onto the second and third regions of the photosensitive film. Third polarized light having a third intensity is radiated onto the first to fourth regions of the photosensitive film. The polarization angles of the first to third polarized light are different from each other. The second polarization angle is larger than the first polarization angle. The third polarization angle is larger than the second polarization angle. The polarization angle of the second or third polarized light radiated onto the third region is less than the third alignment angle. The third intensity is lower than the first intensity and the second intensity.
