    摘要: A device for locking/unlocking rotation of an eccentric bearing interposed between a piston-pin and a connecting rod of an internal combustion engine for changing the compression ratio of the engine. The eccentric bearing has two lock holes, two guide grooves extending circumferentially from the lock holes and two colliding surfaces. The connecting rod has at least one lock-pin hole and a lock-pin is slidably inserted in the lock-pin hole. When the lock-pin is driven toward the eccentric bearing, the lock-pin can move toward the eccentric bearing and can engage the lock hole, thereby locking the rotation of the eccentric bearing. Since the colliding surfaces are provided opposed to said guide grooves, the lock-pin can reliably engage one of the lock holes without jumping the lock hole whether the eccentric bearing rotates in a normal direction or in a reverse direction. As a result, a reliable changing between a high compression ratio and a low compression ratio can be obtained.

    摘要: A compression ratio changing device for an internal combustion engine using an eccentric bearing interposed between a piston-pin and a connecting rod. A lock hole is formed in the eccentric bearing and a lock-pin hole is formed in the connecting rod. A lock-pin is slidably inserted in the lock-pin hole and can move into or out of the lock hole. When the lock-pin engages lock hole, the rotation of the eccentric bearing is locked. When the lock-pin moves apart from the lock hole, the rotation of the eccentric bearing becomes free. To obtain a smooth entry of the lock-pin into the lock hole, a guide groove is formed in the outer portion of the eccentric bearing. A portion of the surface of the lock hole forms a colliding surface for colliding with the lock-pin. A deformation absorbing groove is formed at the outer portion of the colliding surface. The deformation absorbing groove absorbs a deformation of the eccentric bearing which may occur when the lock-pin is insufficiently driven toward the lock hole and the load of collision is large. Such a deformation absorbing groove increases the reliability of the operation of the compression ratio changing device.

The control apparatus includes a variable valve operating mechanism which changes a valve characteristic of an engine valve; a valve stop mechanism which stops opening/closing of the engine valve in at least one cylinder; and a controller which executes a variable valve control that makes an actual value of the valve characteristic match a target value by executing a hydraulic pressure control for the variable valve operating mechanism, and which operates the valve stop mechanism so that a reduced-cylinder operation is performed when an engine operating state is in a preset reduced-cylinder operation region. If it is determined that a pressure of hydraulic fluid supplied to the variable valve operating mechanism satisfies a preset condition when the engine operating state is in the reduced-cylinder operation region, the controller prohibits the variable valve control.

A lock mechanism is placed in a locked state in which the relative rotation phase is locked at a maximum retard phase when the hydraulic pressure in the advance and the retard side pressure chambers is low, and that is placed in an unlocked state in which the locked state is released when the hydraulic pressure becomes high. Hydraulic pressure regulations in a first mode that changes the relative rotation phase to a side toward the maximum retard phase and in a second mode that changes the relative rotation phase to a side away from the maximum retard phase are executed in combination during a period from when an operating switch is turned off until a crankshaft stops rotating.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine includes a plurality of variable valve timing mechanism (VVTs), each corresponding to one of a pair of banks. When an abnormality is detected in a VVT corresponding to one of the banks, the valve closing timing of the intake valves during starting of the engine in the bank corresponding to the normally functioning VVT is adjusted to valve timing that increases the power generated by combustion compared to the engine power generated during normal starting of the engine. Specifically, the valve closing timing of the intake valves during starting of the engine in the bank corresponding to the normally functioning VVT is brought closer to the bottom dead center of the intake stroke of the engine. As a result, deterioration of the starting performance of the engine due to the abnormality of the VVT is compensated for.
