    摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a method of producing a multilayer coating film having excellent smoothness and high distinctness of image. The method of forming a multilayer coating film according to the present invention includes the steps of: successively applying an aqueous intermediate coating composition, an aqueous base coating composition, and a clear coating composition to a substrate; and simultaneously heat-curing the resulting intermediate, base, and clear coating layers, the aqueous intermediate coating composition (X) comprising: a base resin (A); a curing agent (B); and a diester compound (C), the curing agent (B) being a polyisocyanate compound (B1) and/or a polycarbodiimide compound (B2); and the diester compound (C) being represented by formula (1): (wherein R1 and R2 are each independently a hydrocarbon group having 4 to 18 carbon atoms, R3 is an alkylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, m is an integer of 3 to 25, and m oxyalkylene units (R3—O) may be the same or different).

The present invention provides an aqueous coating composition comprising a polyester resin containing a predetermined or greater amount of long chain, straight-chain dicarboxylic acid and/or straight-chain diols having a predetermined or greater carbon number and having hydroxy groups and acid values within predetermined ranges; a urethane-associated thickener having a hydrophobic group and/or a polyacrylic acid-based thickener having a hydrophobic group; a curing agent; and a hydrophobic solvent, wherein the contents of the thickener and the hydrophobic solvent are within a specific range based on the gross amount of the polyester resin and the curing agent. The present invention also provides a method for forming a multilayer coating film using the aqueous coating composition.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method for forming a multilayer coating film, the method comprising (1) coating on a substrate an aqueous first colored coating composition containing a pigment and a hydroxy-containing polyester resin-containing film-forming resin having an acid value of 30 mg KOH/g or less; (2) coating an aqueous second colored coating composition containing a film-forming resin and a copolymer obtained by copolymerization of monomer components containing a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having a hydrophilic group, and a macromonomer having a polymerizable unsaturated group and a backbone having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 10,000, obtained by polymerization of a monomer component having 5 to 100 mass % of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having a C4-24 alkyl group; (3) coating a clear coating composition; and (4) simultaneously curing the three coating films formed in steps (1) to (3).

The multilayer coating film-forming method of the invention has the following construction. A multilayer coating film-forming method comprising the following steps (1) to (4): step (1): coating an article to be coated with an aqueous first pigmented coating composition (X), step (2): coating the article to be coated, with an aqueous second pigmented coating composition (Y), step (3): coating the article to be coated, with a clear coating composition (Z), and step (4): heating an uncured first pigmented coating film, uncured second pigmented coating film and uncured clear coating film to cure them, wherein the aqueous first pigmented coating composition (X) contains a blocked polyisocyanate compound with a specific blocked isocyanate group.
