Abstract:
A process of preparing a lamination film comprising two or more layers of a fixed cholesteric liquid-crystal phase is disclosed. The process comprises (a) applying a coating liquid of a curable liquid crystal composition comprising a rod-like liquid crystal compound, an alignment-control agent capable of controlling an alignment of the rod-like liquid crystal compound and a solvent to a surface; (b) drying the applied curable liquid crystal composition to form a cholesteric liquid-crystal phase; (c) carrying out a curing reaction of the composition and fixing the cholesteric liquid-crystal phase, thereby to form a lower layer; and (d) repeating the steps (a) to (c) on the lower layer, thereby to form an upper layer; wherein at least a part of the alignment-control agent in the lower layer diffuses into the upper layer.
Abstract:
A sample liquid supply device includes a container tip into which the sample liquid is introduced, a hollow needle provided at one end of the container tip such that a hollow part thereof communicates with inside of the container tip, and a sealing member that covers an opening from which the sample liquid is introduced, wherein the sealing member has a puncture-sealing property achieved by elastic deformation.
Abstract:
A droplet discharge head is provided. The droplet discharge head includes: a discharge port through which a droplet is discharged; a liquid channel which communicates with the discharge port; and an actuator which includes a deformation layer defining a part of wall surfaces of the liquid channel and an electrode facing the liquid channel through the deformation layer, and which causes the deformation layer to deform toward the liquid channel when a drive signal is supplied to the electrode. A groove is formed on a surface of the electrode opposite to the deformation layer.
Abstract:
The invention aims at providing a matrix addressing method and circuitry and display device, which enable power savings without as little degrading the legibility of content of an image as possible. A matrix addressing method for driving pixels arranged over a display area by signals supplied to row electrodes and column electrodes arranged to cross one another. Rich-gray-scale pixel information signals (#0 to #63) are generated in a predetermined number of levels of gray scale according to original pixel information signals, while poor-gray-scale pixel information signals (#0 and #63) are generated in a smaller number of levels of gray scale than the maximum number of levels of gray scale, according to original pixel information signals, and rich-gray-scale pixels driven by the rich-gray-scale pixel information signals (#0 to #63) and poor-gray-scale pixels driven by the poor-gray-scale pixel information signals (#0 and #63) are mixed and coexist discretely in at least a part of the display area in a predetermined mixing pattern to display the same image object in a predetermined mode.
Abstract:
A microchip for an isothermal nucleic-acid amplification reaction in which at least one of substances necessary for an isothermal amplification reaction of a nucleic acid is present in a reaction region functioning as a reaction field of the reaction, the at least one of the substances being covered with a thin film that melts at a temperature higher than room temperature and lower than a reaction temperature of the reaction.
Abstract:
A method of measuring an enzymatic activity, includes measuring the quantity of a substrate metabolite produced upon metabolism of a substrate by an enzyme, through detecting a radiant wave generated from a multiple photon excitation process of the substrate or the substrate metabolite.
Abstract:
A liquid discharging head includes a flow path unit having a common liquid flow path; an individual liquid flow path; and a plurality of plates that are stacked to form the common liquid flow path and the individual liquid flow path. The plurality of plates includes at least four manifold plates that include partial plates and support members, wherein the at least four manifold plates comprise: a first manifold plate that includes a first partial plate and a first support member that supports the first partial plate; a second manifold plate that includes a second partial plate and a second support member that is adjacent to the first support member in a direction in which the common liquid path extends, the second support member supporting the second partial plate; and at least one manifold plate that is interposed between the first manifold plate and the second manifold plate.
Abstract:
A droplet ejection head according to the present invention includes a layered body made up of a plurality of metal plates, and an ejection face. The plurality of metal plates in the layered body include n metal plates whose lengthwise directions form the same angle with a rolling direction thereof. The n metal plates include a first stress plate and a second stress plate. The first stress plate has internal stress which forces the metal plate to bend along its lengthwise direction so as to make it protrude toward a ejecting direction. The second stress plate has internal stress which forces the metal plate to bend along its lengthwise direction so as to make it protrude toward a direction opposite to the ejecting direction.
Abstract:
A linear solenoid valve includes a solenoid having a coil wound around a coil bobbin, a fixed core, and a movable core for being attracted to the fixed core when the coil is energized, and a valve mechanism having a valve element for selectively bringing an inlet port and an outlet port into and out of fluid communication with each other responsive to a displacement of the movable core. The movable core has a nonmagnetic layer formed on an outer surface thereof and having a predetermined thickness.
