    摘要: One or more embodiments of the present invention provides a method for preparing a chain-extended lithiated thioacetal solution, the method comprising (i) preparing a lithiated thioacetal by reacting an initiator precursor compound with an organolithium compound; and (ii) chain extending the lithiated thioacetal by polymerizing monomer including conjugated diene monomer, optionally together with vinyl aromatic monomer, to form a polymeric or oligomeric segment having at least 3 and less than 125 repeat units.

    摘要: A method is presented for making an amino alkoxy-modified silsesquioxane (amino AMS) comprising one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of an amino-AMS, an amino/mercaptan co-AMS, an amino/blocked mercaptan co-AMS, and mixtures of these. The use of solid strong cationic catalysts in this reaction system is advantageous because the catalyst remains as a solid throughout the reaction, allowing simplified separation of the solid catalyst from the soluble amino AMS or amino co-AMS products, resulting in total or near total recovery of the amino AMS or amino co-AMS products, as well as virtual total recovery of the catalyst for recycling. The use of the solid strong cationic catalysts is advantageous because it results in amino AMS products that are free of, or substantially free of, residual acid catalyst.

    摘要: Amino alkoxy-modified silsesquioxanes (amino AMS), and/or amino co-AMS compounds that also comprise a mercaptosilane or a blocked mercaptosilane, are excellent adhesives for coating plated or unplated metal wire for adherence of the wire to a rubber stock. The amino AMS and/or the amino/mercaptan co-AMS adhesives can be used with all types of rubber and there is no requirement for the use of special adhesive additives to the rubber vulcanizates, such as, but not limited to, cobalt, resins and high sulfur levels. In particular, the use of amino AMS and/or amino/mercaptan co-AMS compounds as adhesives for bonding wire to rubber also improves the adherence performance of the reinforcements to obtain sufficient bonding that is resistant to degradation over the course of time, especially resistance to thermal aging and/or thermo-oxidizing aging, in particular corrosion in the presence of water. Vulcanized rubber compositions that contain an amino AMS and/or amino/mercaptan co-AMS compound also have improved adhesion to embedded uncoated steel after humidity aging compared with vulcanized rubber compositions not containing the amino alkoxy-modified silsesquioxane.

    摘要: Improved tensile mechanical and dynamic viscoelastic properties of silica-reinforced sulfur vulcanized rubbers can be achieved by compounding elastomers with silica in the presence of an alkoxysilane and a catalytic amount of a strong organic base. The strong organic base acts as a catalyst to accelerate the alkoxysilane-silica reaction, especially at high compounding temperatures, resulting in rubber compounds that exhibit reduced compound viscosity, improved dispersion of silica, and reduced filler flocculation after compounding, and reduced hysteresis and improved abrasion resistance in the vulcanized product, compared to similar compounds prepared at the temperature without the strong organic base catalyst.
