摘要: An end effector for printing ink on a surface is disclosed. The end effector comprises a primary block comprises a primary-block body. A plurality of primary-printing modules are coupled to the primary-block body and translationally moveable, via a corresponding first actuator. Each one of the primary-printing modules includes at least one printhead which is adjustable, relative to the primary-block body. The printhead may be adjusted by at least one of a second actuator, configured to rotate the printhead about a first axis, or a third actuator, configured to rotate the printhead about a second axis. In some examples, a fourth actuator is configured to rotate at least one printhead, relative to at least one other printhead, about a third axis. Additionally, at least one trailing block can be coupled to the primary block so that the at least one trailing block is movable relative to the primary block.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a surface preparation and livery printing system and a method of preparing a surface and printing a livery. The method includes preparing a surface of an aircraft part in a first processing booth to form a prepared surface of the aircraft part. The method also includes transporting the aircraft part to a second processing booth being adjacent to the first processing booth upon completion of preparing the surface. The method further includes applying a livery to the prepared surface of the aircraft part in a second processing booth and upon completion of applying the livery, transporting the aircraft part to a third processing booth being adjacent to the second processing booth. The method still further includes applying a clearcoat over at least the livery applied to the prepared surface of the aircraft part in a third processing booth.

摘要: An end effector and associated systems and methods for printing ink on a surface is disclosed. The end effector comprises a main block including a back plate. The end effector also includes a plurality of slice assemblies slidably coupled to the back plate. Each one of the plurality of slice assemblies includes a printhead and a y-actuator. The y-actuator is selectively operable to extend and retract the printhead, parallel to a y-axis in first directions, and relative to the back plate. The end effector further includes a plurality of z-actuators coupled to the back plate. Each one of the plurality of z-actuators is selectively operable to extend and retract a corresponding one of the plurality of slice assemblies, parallel to a z-axis in second directions, which is perpendicular to the y-axis and relative to the back plate.

The method includes receiving an aircraft part having an altered surface image and selecting a repair process from one of a paint repair process, a decal repair process, or an inkjet repair process, based on characteristics of the altered surface image. The method also includes applying paint to the surface over the altered surface image. In response to selecting the decal repair process, the method includes printing a first image on a decal based on the characteristics of the altered surface image and a second image associated with the altered surface image and a step of applying the decal to the surface at least partially over the altered surface image. In response to selecting the inkjet repair process, the method includes performing the inkjet repair process to at least a portion of the surface based on the characteristics of the altered surface image.

摘要: A sealant containment assembly is configured to bound at least a portion of a fastener pattern between at least two components, such as components used to form at least a portion of an aircraft. The sealant containment assembly includes at least one sealant containment member that is configured to sealingly engage peripheral portions of components. The sealant containment member(s) is configured to form a sealing chamber around at least a portion of the fastener pattern. Fluid sealant is configured to flow into the sealing chamber and cure to seal fasteners within the fastener pattern that connect the components together.
