摘要： The present invention relates to a retrograde cardioplegia catheter for the delivery of a cardioplegia solution to a patient's heart during open heart surgery. The catheter includes a flexible, elongated cannula having a proximal and a distal end. The cannula includes at least two lumens, the primary lumen being utilized to deliver cardioplegia solution. Typical of retrograde catheters, a sealing member is positioned and secured about the distal end of the cannula. In contrast to conventional catheters, however, the sealing member is comprised of (i) a thin-walled membrane that defines an interior chamber and (ii) a compressible, resilient form positioned within such chamber to fully support the membrane. The resilient form is in an expanded state when relaxed. The resilient form of the present invention enables the distribution of a consistent, definable force across the surface of the semi-rigid sealing member, whereby the resilient form empowers the sealing member of the present invention to overcome migratory tendencies of air- and fluid-filled sealing members typical of conventional retrograde cardioplegia catheters.

摘要： An apparatus for rate controlled gravity drip delivery of a liquid from a replaceable storage container to a delivery site includes a first mount for removably suspending the container at a first elevation higher than the site. A second mount is located above the site, but at a second elevation below the first elevation by a predetermined amount. The second mount carries an intersurface comprising a venting tubing connector having an outlet into a delivery conduit extending to the site. A metering tube of predetermined flow resistance substantially higher than that of the delivery conduit extends from the container at one end and is releasably secured to the connector at its other end to define a two part flow path from the container to the site through the metering tube and delivery conduit. The venting of the connector subjects the fluid at the connector to the same ambient pressure as the fluid in the container so that the rate of delivery is substantially predetermined by the difference in the first and second elevations and flow resistance of the metering tube.

摘要： A one-piece metal connector that securely ties together the structural members of the roof and wall on a wood frame house. The connector has a vertical web on the top that is attached to a rafter and a vertical web on the bottom that is connected to a wall stud. The middle part of the connector has a vertical plate and horizontal tabs that form a box-section around the top plate. Horizontal and vertical tabs form open boxes that hold sheathing tight to the wall. Gussets brace the rafter and stud against racking. The connector has a large surface area for maximum strength, and precise nail holes to avoid splitting the structural member. The connector grasps the structural members to avoid detachment of any structural members during hurricanes and seismic events. The connector's webs and bends help to avoid twisting, lateral forces, thrusting, and uplift.

摘要： A catheter insertion device utilizing a catheter wound inside a two-piece generally cylindrical dispenser and extending outwardly into a slotted needle secured to an outlet from the dispenser; a stiffener comprising a closely-wound wire helix which surrounds a central straight wire is positioned inside the catheter; the dispenser is composed of two relatively rotatable parts, one a relatively flat base having a slot communicating with the slotted needle, the other a receptacle having an inwardly-facing wall which engages the catheter; the receptacle is releasably and rotatably held to the base by a central spindle extending upwardly from the base member through a hole in the top of the receptacle; a flexible feed guide extends from the base adjacent the dispenser outlet and guides the catheter toward the outlet; the guide is engageable with a stop to positively prevent further rotation of the receptacle at a predetermined point when the proximal end of the catheter nears the outlet; the dispenser spindle is split into yieldable fingers at its outer end and provided with a circumferential detent which engages the receptacle; a cooperating release button positioned atop the spindle may be pressed to urge the fingers of the spindle together and assist in releasing the receptacle from the spindle detent after insertion.

Brackets are permanently attached to a house near a large window or patio door. Brackets are attached to a window shutter that can be made of almost any material.The homeowner supplies the covering material that is contiguous to his or her area. The covering material can be made of plywood, bamboo, aluminum, steel, acrylic sheet, kevlar or other lightweight and strong material that may be invented in the future. The shutters can be made from recycled steel, aluminum, and car tires.The brackets carry most of the weight of the shutter, making installation of the shutter quick and easy. When the shutter is rocked into position, it can not move upward, outward, inward, or laterally.

摘要： A true retrofit hurricane and earthquake clip for connecting the roof rafter, to the outside sheathing and underlying top plate. The connector is composed of sheet metal including a base web and top web, connected by an arched saddle. The wide base web has a left and right side with nail holes for fastening to the outside sheathing. The base web holds the sheathing securely to the wall and prevents bowing out and lateral movement. The top web has left and right sides with nail holes for fastening to the widest edges of a rafter preventing uplift, outward thrusting, and twisting. The saddle connects the top web and base web, and forms a cradle for the bottom of the rafter. The angled saddle avoids any demolition of frieze boards or trim on the house, making for effortless installation. The connector is easily installed by a homeowner on existing houses with the saddle clasping the rafter and outside sheathing. The saddle adds stability, limits twisting, prevents the wall from bowing out, and makes the connector practically invisible from the side of the house.
