Abstract:
In a fuel cell including an electrolyte layer allowing an anion component to migrate, and a fuel-side electrode and an oxygen-side electrode arranged to face each other while sandwiching the electrolyte layer, the oxygen-side electrode contains a first catalyst containing a first transition metal and polypyrrole, and a second catalyst containing a second transition metal and a porphyrin ring-containing compound so that the mixing ratio of the first catalyst relative to 100 parts by mass of the total amount of the first catalyst and the second catalyst is more than 10 parts by mass, and below 90 parts by mass.
Abstract:
A highly dispersed, unsupported, electrocatalyst made of pyrolyzed porphyries and a method for synthesizing the same. The disclosed synthesis procedure allows for optimization of pore size and therefore transport properties. Compounds suitable for use include transition metal N4-chelates such as, but not necessarily limited to, N4-chelates containing different metal centers including Co, Fe, Mn, Ni, Ru, Cu, etc., and other N4-chelates such as porphyrin, phthalocyanies, and structures based on their pyro products.
Abstract:
Method for treating an aluminum alloy surface for electrodeposition or electroless deposition of a metal or alloy on the surface, the surface is oxidized (e.g. anodized) to form aluminum oxide, and then the oxidized surface is chemically etched to render the surface amenable for electrodeposition or electroless deposition of the metal or alloy thereon. A metallic coating can be electrodeposited or electroless deposited on the treated surface.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides oxide microparticles with engineered hierarchical porosity and methods of manufacturing the same. Also described are structures that are formed by templating, impregnating, and/or precipitating the oxide microparticles and method for forming the same. Suitable applications include catalysts, electrocatalysts, electrocatalysts support materials, capacitors, drug delivery systems, sensors and chromatography.

A semiconductor substrate carrier for use during wet chemical processing may comprise a conductive flange to couple the carrier with processing equipment, a frame coupled with the conductive flange, where the frame is configured to hold a semiconductor substrate, and an integrated shield coupled with the frame. The integrated shield is configured to alter an electric field near at least a portion of a surface of the semiconductor substrate during the wet chemical processing.

Abstract:
An electromagnetic matched filter based multiple access communications system having a source of modulated pulses from a digital data stream; an initial filter which shapes the incoming modulated pulse into a desired pulse for transmission across the communication medium; a second filter, identical to the initial filter, which is matched to the pulse which exit the communication medium, a detector which converts the modulated pulse stream into the original digital data stream, and signals which are designed with specific mathematical properties which make the system efficient and minimizes crosstalk between channels. The signals decay rapidly from the central lobe at a higher than 1/x rate and the zero points of the autocorrelation function having high order multiplicities. The type of system allows multiplexing of multiple data streams with much greater flexibility, robustness, and density.
