    摘要： A device for fusing and fixing electrophotographic toner powder to a receiver sheet and a method for using the same. The device comprises a first fusing member, such as a fusing roll, having a resilient surface for pressure contact with thermoplastic toner on the receiver sheet. A second member, which can be a non-resilient pressure roll, presses the toner into contact with the resilient surface. The device also is designed to heat the toner. The fusing member has a layer of an elastomeric, amorphous silarylene-siloxane alternating or random copolymer which is thermally stable, has good wear resistance, and good thermal conductivity and exhibits little or no swelling when contacted with poly(dimethylsiloxane) release oils.

    摘要： Disclosed herein is an image-transfer film unit comprising:(1) a photosensitive element comprising a support, having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer;(2) an image-receiving layer:(3) interposed between any silver halide emulsion layer and said image-receiving layer, at least one pH selectively permeable layer comprising:(a) from about 1 to 100 mole percent of a polymerized monomer containing at least one active methylene group and having the formula: ##STR1## wherein n is 0 or 1; R is hydrogen or methyl; R.sup.1 is substituted or unsubstituted arylenethylene having the structure: ##STR2## wherein Ar is arylene and R.sup.2 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl, or R.sup.1 has the formula: ##STR3## wherein R.sup.3 is alkylene, arylene or cycloalkylene; and R.sup.4 is alkyl, alkoxy or amino when n is equal to 0, and R.sup.4 is alkyl, alkoxy, amino, cycloalkyl or aryl when n is equal to 1;(b) from 0 to about 90 mole percent of at least one additional hydrophilic polymerized ethylenically unsaturated monomer; and(c) from 0 to about 80 mole percent of at least one additional hydrophobic polymerized ethylenically unsaturated monomer; and(4) means containing an alkaline processing composition adapted to discharge its contents within said film unit.

C.;(c) blending the solution of (b) with water; and(d) removing the water-miscible solvent.

    摘要： Improved fluorescent labels comprise a fluorescent rare earth chelate incorporated into a polymeric particle derived from a loadable latex. The polymer comprises: (a) from about 50 to about 96 weight percent of recurring units derived from a hydrophobic ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable monomer, (b) from about 2 to about 30 weight percent of recurring units derived from a nonionic hydrophilic ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable monomer, and (c) from about 2 to about 20 weight percent of recurring units derived from an anionic ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable monomer containing at least one solubilizing group. The labels of this invention have greatly improved stability in aqueous solutions and do not prematurely agglomerate during storage. They can be attached to any of a variety of physiologically reactive species to provide labeled species, and are particularly useful in specific binding assays.
