Abstract:
A drive motor control device for a video disk player or the like operates to brake the motor by driving it reversely upon reception of a rotation termination signal, until it is detected that the motor has stopped and rotates reversely. The motor is then driven forwardly for a predetermined time before being allowed to rotate freely to a stop.
Abstract:
In a disk size detecting circuit, the size of a disk is determined according to the speed of a motor adapted to rotate the disk and the angle through which motor has rotated after the start thereof. A counter, which is reset with the signal which starts the operation of the motor, counts pulses indicative of the amount of rotation of the motor. A rotational speed detector circuit, which may take the form of a frequency-to-voltage converter followed by a voltage comparator or a frequency counter followed by a digital comparator, produces a signal indicating the rotational speed of the motor. The output of the counter and the output of the rotational speed detector are applied to a circuit which discriminates the size of the disk according to the two signals.
Abstract:
A video signal recording system is provided in which the number of horizontal scanning lines of a high-definition television system video signal is converted to be M times as large as the number of horizontal scanning lines of an ordinary television video signal. The converted video signal is divided into M vertical sections and N horizontal sections so that M.times.N sections of the divided video signal are separately recorded onto M.times.N recording media respectively. In this way, a high-definition television system video signal can be displayed on a plurality of ordinary television receivers without losing the high-definition television system picture quality.
Abstract:
A video image displaying system comprises first video equipment for converting a HDTV video signal to a plurality of video signals of a second format for display on a plurality of television receivers responsive to signals of the second format and second video equipment for providing one or more video signals of the second format to selected television receivers in response to a switching circuit. The image displaying system includes a noise reduction circuit, with coring circuit, in which the characteristics of first and second filters are set in such a way as their overall characteristic becomes flat so as to reduce a noise overlapping a high frequency range of a video signal. The image displaying system further includes a synchronizing signal generator which provides a phase difference between synchronizing signals to be supplied to a first and second video equipments, thus compensating for a delay time of the high definition television signal encountered in an image dividing unit. Preferably, the high definition television signal a Hi-vision signal and the second format television signal is a NTSC television signal.
Abstract:
A television (TV) signal receiving apparatus displays a TV signal of a high definition system using a TV receiver of an NTSC system with the high picture quality of the high definition system. An A/D converter converts an analog TV signal of a high definition system to a digital signal. A memory stores the digital signal and a vertical filter converts a number of horizontal scanning lines of the TV signal of the high definition system into a number of horizontal scanning lines of a TV signal of an NTSC system. The ratio of horizontal scanning lines of the high definition TV signal to horizontal scanning lines of the NTSC TV signal is 5 to 7. The horizontal scanning lines are divided into three portions in the vertical direction and four portions in the scanning direction and are supplied to twelve CRTs (monitors). The CRTs are arranged in three rows and four columns to form a picture plane.

Abstract:
A low-cost recording disc rotary drive control apparatus having a simple circuit configuration employing no voltage divider or frequency-to-voltage converter. A position pulse signal with a period proportional to a position detecting signal produced by a position detecting device is generated, and a rotational pulse signal having a frequency proportional to the rate of rotation of the motor is generated. The supply of a control signal to the motor is effected while supply of an accelerating signal thereto is suspended using a switching device.
Abstract:
An apparatus for driving a turntable of a disc player system including a first drive voltage source for supplying a first driving voltage driving a spindle motor in a normal direction, a second drive voltage source for generating a second drive voltage for driving the spindle motor in a reverse direction, a voltage supply control circuit means for selectively supplying one of first and second drive voltages in accordance with a play command signal and a stop command signal, and a detection means for detecting the rotation of a rotor of the spindle motor in the reverse direction. When the stop command signal is supplied, the second drive voltage is supplied to the spindle motor for applying a driving torque of reverse direction to the rotor of the spindle motor and the supply of the second drive voltage is stopped immediately when the reverse direction rotation of the rotor is detected by the detection means. Thus, a very quick and accurate control of the stoppage of the spindle motor is realized.
Abstract:
An image display system is provided in which an image to be displayed is subdivided into a plurality of images. The plurality of images are displayed on a plurality of display devices. An image is converted to a high definition television signal, and then converted to a plurality of signals compatible with standard television systems. Since the image is subdivided electronically, mismatching between screens is avoided. Further, when the input image to be displayed has an aspect ratio larger or smaller than that of the high definition television system, the displayed image is appropriately shifted, thus eliminating hardware and reducing the system cost.
Abstract:
A video signal recording method and apparatus in which a video signal for a high definition television system is converted into a video signal for a current television system and recorded on record media. These video signals are recorded so as not to cause a deterioration in picture image quality such as color phase irregularity. According to the present video signal recording method, a screen to be displayed in a high definition television system is divided into a plurality of screens, video signals of each of which are then converted into signals of a current television system. A luminance signal and a chrominance signal of each of the signals of the current television system are time division multiplexed. Signals obtained from the time division multiplexing are recorded onto a plurality of record media with or without a color burst signal added thereto for each line.
