Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are provided to store traffic management data that indicates different levels of congestion that are each correlated to a different category of application of an end device, a type of congestion mechanism including at least one of access class barring, enhanced access class barring, service specific access control, application specific congestion control for data communication, or unattended and background data traffic, and barring parameters; receive a request for wireless service; obtain a level of congestion; determine that the request cannot be granted based on the level of congestion; select one of the levels of congestion based on the level of congestion; generate a first barring message based on the type of congestion mechanism, barring parameters, and category of application correlated to the one of the levels of congestion; and transmit the first barring message to the end devices.

Abstract: A computer device may include a memory storing instructions and a processor configured to execute the instructions to select a broadcast method for a wakeup signal for a wireless communication device; instruct a base station to broadcast the wakeup signal using the selected broadcast method; and provide information identifying the selected broadcast method to the wireless communication device. The processor may be further configured to receiving a wakeup request from a machine-type communication interworking function (MTC-IWF) device; map the received wakeup request to a wakeup signature beacon signal associated with the wireless communication device; and instruct the base station to transmit a wakeup signature beacon signal to the wireless communication device based on the received wakeup request.

Abstract: A method for network controlled beam sweeping, may include receiving, at a network control device, location data associated with user equipment (UE) devices within a service area. The method may also include identifying, at each beam sweeping position of a plurality of beam sweeping positions, geo-bins having at least one UE device located within. The method includes receiving, at the network control device, networking requirements and traffic distribution data associated with the UE devices, and determining a sweeping weight for each identified geo-bin, where the sweeping weight is based on the networking requirements and the traffic distribution data associated with the at least one UE device in a geo-bin, and determining a sweeping factor for each beam sweeping position based upon the sweeping weights. The method may also include determining a beam sweeping pattern for all the beam sweeping positions based on the sweeping factors.

Abstract: Systems described herein use a group packet data network (PDN) to support communications from machine-type communications (MTC) devices on wireless networks. The systems assign a MTC device to a group with a group identifier, the group associating the MTC device, and other MTC devices, with a particular customer network; receive an attach request from the MTC device; retrieve, based on the attach request, the group identifier for the MTC device; configure a bearer path between the MTC device and the particular customer network, the bearer path including a group PDN that transports data packets from the MTC device, and the other MTC devices, between a serving gateway (SGW) and a PDN gateway (PGW); and send data packets from the MTC device over the group PDN.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a network control component, an enhanced subscriber profile identifier (E-SPID) associated with at least one machine type communications (MTC) user device from a home subscriber server (HSS). The method includes determining whether the E-SPID is in a first range of E-SPID values, wherein the first range of E-SPID values corresponds to a delay that exceeds a threshold, and interacting with a self-organizing network (SON) controller that interacts an operation administration maintenance (OAM) component to control and define a modified E-SPID based on network traffic and coverage in response to a determination that the E-SPID is in the first range of E-SPID values. The method further includes sending the modified E-SPID to at least one enhanced evolved node b (eNodeB) associated with the at least one MTC user device, wherein the at least one enhanced eNodeB is operable to perform access control and scheduling for the at least one MTC user device based on the E-SPID.

Abstract: A network device may determine a sequence. The sequence may identify an order in which particular unlicensed bands, of a plurality of unlicensed bands in an unlicensed spectrum, are to be assigned for the transmission of data flows. The network device may provide information identifying the sequence via a licensed band to a user device to cause the user device to transmit or receive the data flows via the particular unlicensed bands identified in the sequence in the order in which the particular unlicensed bands are to be assigned; and transmit or receive, to or from the user device, the data flows via the particular unlicensed and the licensed bands.
