    摘要: A system (10) has a pipeline (12) comprised of a multi-channel bi-directional video bus (14), multi-channel bi-directional audio bus (16), and a digital interprocessor communications bus (18). The pipeline (12) is equipped with a number of ports (20) where media controller (microprocessor) printed circuit cards (22) can be connected, thus providing a convenient method for connecting media devices (24) to the pipeline (12). In this manner, a media device's video input and output can be optionally connected to any of the video pipes (26) of the video bus (14). Similarly, the media device (24) audio inputs and outputs can be optionally connected to any of the audio bus (16) pipes (26). The switching is accomplished through a pair of analog multiplexers (28) whose connection options have been commanded by local microprocessor (30) resident on the media device microprocessor control board (22). The local microprocessor (30) receives instructions for the pipeline switch interconnections through the interprocessor serial communications bus (18 ). The pipeline (12) is constructed on a motherboard printed circuit board (32) that additionally contains a microprocessor (34) that serves as the local area network controller for the interprocessor communications. A software driver interconnects the multiple video and audio devices (24) in different configurations in response to user inputs to a host data processing system so that physical assignments of the device communications on the pipeline (12) are transparent to the user.

An agent according to the invention comprises three Domains B, T and E linked together in the following manner: Domain B-Domain T-Domain E where Domain B is the Binding Domain which binds the agent to a Binding Site on the cell which undergoes endocytosis to produce an endosome, Domain T is the Translation Domain which translocates the agent (with or without the Binding Site) from within the endosome across the endosomal membrane into the cytosol of the cell, Domain E is the Effector Domain which inhibits the ability of the Recyclable Membrane Vesicles to transport the Integral Membrane Proteins to the surface of the cell.

    摘要: A cyclonic separation apparatus is described comprising a cylindrical vortex-starting chamber and frusto-conical cyclonic separation chamber. The separation chamber is formed from first and second frusto-conical cyclone regions. The first region has a larger cone-angle than that of the second region for the purpose of reducing the overall axial length of the cyclone separation chamber. A central tubular member extends axially of the cylindrical chamber and comprises a vortex starter. The wider end of the first frusto conical region begins in the region of the downstream end of the central tubular member. The wall of the downstream end of the central tubular member is apertured, and in use the frusto-conical wall of the first region (which is close to the apertured lower end of the central tubular member) forces a progressive reduction in radius on the circulating airstream and therefore a corresponding increase in its rotational velocity in the region of the apertures and just before the airstream enters the second frusto-conical cyclone section. This retains more higher density particulate material in the rotating airstream as it transfers to the second cyclone region than if no such first frusto-conical region is employed, which reduces the chance of higher density material migrating radially inwardly to exit via the apertures in the tubular member instead of remaining in the rotating airstream and moving therewith into the second frusto-conical separation region.

    摘要: A valve closure is described for use in particle separation apparatus. The closure is adapted to move in a direction to make sealing contact with a valve seat to create a closed chamber at the lower end of a frusto-conical cyclone separation chamber in which particles will collect during use. The closure is also adapted to move further in the same direction after sealing engagement has been effected, under the influence of any increase in suction created by restriction of the inlet to the apparatus. This reduces the gap between the downstream end of the frusto-conical cyclone separation chamber and the closure or a member carried by the closure, in response to any increased suction, whilst maintaining the sealed condition. The reduced gap enhances separation during the increased suction. The additional movement of the closure may be effected by providing an O-ring seal which is engaged by the closure to effect the sealing engagement. The O-ring is formed from resiliently crushable material so that a good airtight seal is effected by initial contact, but if the suction force acting on the closure increases, further movement of the closure is still possible to the extent to which the material forming the seal will crush. The resilience of the seal material controls the extent to which the closure is able to move, therefore the cross-section of the O-ring seal is selected so that there is at least sufficient crushable material in the cross section to accommodate the desired movement before the seal becomes incompressible. Alternatively a rubber O-ring seal is located on a resiliently deformable support member, which may be a ring and which is sandwiched between the O-ring and an annular seating in the wall of the chamber which is to be closed by the movement of the closure into contact with the O-ring. Thus after sealing contact has been established, subsequent movement of the closure is substantially accommodated by compression of the support member. Alternatively an O-ring seal is carried by a rigid annular support and an annular resiliently deformable member is sandwiched between the rigid support and the wall of the chamber.

    摘要: A inahine for washing and/or cleaning articles comprises a sealable enclosure for containing the articles to which cleaning liquid is to be supplied. The cleaning liquid is heated to a high tomperature and forced into the enclosure under high pressure as finely dispersed or diffused droplets forming a mist or vapour. A pressure greater than atmospheric is maintained in the enclosure to force the cleaning liquid into at least the surface if not through and into the very structure of the material from which the articles are formed, so as to assist the cleaning process by producing a quicker and more efficient sturation of the articles by the cleaning liquid. The latter may comprise water and detergent or a dry-cleaning solvent. The cleaning liquid is removed from the articles and the interior of tbe anclosure by means of a suction pump. If a rinse is required, it is replaced by clean liquid for rinsing, preferably also at higher than atmospheric pressure and if desired also heated to higher than ambient temperatures. The rinsing liquid is also removed from the enclosure by suetion. The suction is obtained by a suction pump typically a venturi vacuum pump and this is also employed to create a pertial vacuum in the enclosure during a drying phase after the cleaning and, if desired rinsing stages.
