摘要: An electrical stimulation system is provided for electrically stimulating nerve tissue in multiple locations in a person's brain to treat multiple conditions in the person's body. The system includes first electrodes and second electrodes adapted to be implanted within a person's skull. The first electrodes are adapted to be positioned proximate first nerve tissue in the brain associated with a first condition in the person's body for delivering electrical stimulation pulses to the first nerve tissue to treat the first condition. The second electrodes are adapted to be positioned proximate second nerve tissue in the brain associated with a second condition in the person's body for delivering electrical stimulation pulses to the second nerve tissue to treat the second condition. The system also includes a stimulation source operable to generate the first electrical stimulation pulses according to one or more first stimulation programs for delivery to the first nerve tissue and to generate the second electrical stimulation pulses according to one or more second stimulation programs for delivery to the second nerve tissue.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of treating sexual dysfunction. The method includes stimulating sacral nerve roots, S2 and/or S3, with electromagnetic stimulation in or about the sacrum. The stimulation may be achieved with leads terminating in electrodes that extend with an emerging sacral nerve root or extend transverse the sacrum at or about the location of the nerve root to be stimulated. Alternately, spiraled electrodes and nerve cuffs may be used to stimulate the nerve root within the sacrum, as it emerges from the sacrum, or outside the sacrum. In this manner, the selected sacral nerve root may be stimulated to provide genital stimulation and thereby induce orgasm.

摘要: An implantable, substantially isodiametric, low resistance implantable lead having at least one electrode positioned in a stimulation/sensing portion of the lead as well as a method of manufacturing the same. At least the stimulation/sensing portion is unitized through partially surrounding and supporting insulation and conductive element(s) of the stimulation/sensing portion with a fused matrix of material having mechanical properties consistent with a body of the lead.

摘要: In one embodiment, a method electrically stimulates an area in a spinal disc. The method comprises: implanting at least one steerable lead at a placement site for stimulating a spinal disc such that the lead is disposed exterior and immediately adjacent to and circumferentially along an annulus of the spinal disc, the at least one lead including a plurality of electrodes distributed along a majority of a circumference of the annulus; connecting the lead to a signal generator; and generating electrical stimulation pulses using the generator to stimulate targeted portions of the spinal disc, wherein the stimulation of the targeted portion of the spinal disc sufficiently stimulates nerve tissue within the spinal disc to prevent communication of pain signals originating in the spinal disc without damaging tissue of the spinal disc.

摘要: Described are techniques for detecting data collisions between a first portion and a second portion of an application executing on a computer, the first portion and the second portions executing concurrently with respect to each other. While the first portion and second portion are executing, before the first portion accesses a memory location shared by the first portion and the second portion, a value stored in the memory location is captured and the first portion is delayed. While the second portion continues to execute the first portion is delayed. After a period of the first portion having been paused or slowed, the current content of the memory location is compared with the captured content to determine if there is a data collision. The first and second portions may be threads, and the capturing, delaying, and determining may be performed by code inserted to the application after it has been compiled.
