摘要: Harness making machine comprises an indexible conveyer having wire jigs thereon for holding wires in parallel relationship with the wire ends extending to one side of the conveyer. Each of the wire jigs comprises a plurality of individual wire clamps stacked against each other. The individual wire clamps can be moved from the stack to an extended position so that the wires are individually presented to wire processing machines, such as crimping machine, located on the one side of the conveyer. The invention encompasses the machine, the wire jig, and the method of making harnesses.

摘要: Wire jig intended for use in a wire processing machine comprises a plurality of wire clamps in side-by-side aligned positions forming a stack. The stack is supported on a frame and the individual clamps are movable laterally from the stack in a direction parallel to the axes of wires held in the stack. Each clamp has a first actuator engaging portion which is engageable by a first actuator for sliding the individual clamp from its aligned position to its extended position.

摘要: A method of manufacturing electrical harnesses is disclosed in which wires are fed through a loading zone and then clamped in the loading zone in side-by-side parallel relationship in an array. The wires are then cut and the clamped array of wires is moved laterally of the axes of the wires past a succession of crimping machines or the like. At each of the machines, a preselected wire is moved axially from the array so that its end is presented to the machine and a terminal is crimped onto the wire. The method of the invention is capable of producing harnesses comprising a plurality of discrete wires having different types of discrete terminals on their ends.

摘要: The lead parking and sorting station is for receiving electrical leads (L), especially those which differ from one another and for presenting the leads for pick up by a block loading station. The parking and sorting station comprises a pair of ganged jaw wheels (12 and 16) each having lead gripping jaws (13). The jaw wheels (12 and 16) can be swung to move each jaw wheel ( 12 and 16) between a lead loading position (LP) and a lead sorting and discharge position (DP). When in its loading position (LP), each jaw wheel (12 and 16) is driven by a unidirectional stepping motor (14) in constantly spaced steps, to pick up a lead (L) at each step. When it has been loaded with leads (L) each jaw wheel (12 and 16) is swung to its sorting and discharge position (DP) where it is driven by a bidirectional stepping motor (18), in steps, the length and direction of which are determined by a pre-arranged harness making program, the leads being picked up by the block loading station at a pick up position (PP).

摘要: The apparatus is for loading electrical terminals (T) on leads (L) into cavities (TC) in an electrical connector block (B). The apparatus comprises a lead clamp (240) which is actuable to clamp a lead (L). The lead clamp (240) is mounted on a first slide (369) which is movable along a vertical axis (Z--Z) relative to a second slide (408), which is in turn movable along a first horizontal axis (Y--Y) relative to a carriage (402) which is slidable along a second horizontal axis (X--X) at right angles to the first horizontal axis (Y--Y). Drive motors (414, 410 and 416) are actuable according to a harness making program, to cause the lead clamp (240) to insert a terminal (T) on a lead (L) gripped by the lead clamp (240), into any terminal receiving cavity (TC) which has been selected in accordance with a program.

摘要: The apparatus is for terminating wires (W) to terminals (8) in a connector housing (4), for shearing from the housing (4), a cover (14) which is hinged thereto and for placing the cover (14) on the housing (4) to cover the connections. The connector housing (4) is conveyed by means of a first shuttle (50) to a cover shearing station (CS) at which the cover (14) is sheared from the housing (4) and is driven into a second shuttle (84). The first shuttle (50) is then moved to a terminating station (TS) at which wires are terminated to the terminals (8) by tooling (130) after which the second shuttle (84) is moved to the terminating station (TS) and the tooling (130) is operated to drive the severed cover (14) from the second shuttle (84) onto the connector housing (4).

摘要: The present application discloses an apparatus for consolidation welding of an electrical conductor, in particular to an electrical terminal, preferably for resistance-monitored circuitry in a motor vehicle, having a bottom welding tool, on which a conductor section to be consolidated can be arranged, as well as three movable welding tools, whereby with a movable welding tool, which has two translational degrees of freedom, a width of the conductor section to be consolidated can be variably adjusted with reference to the bottom welding tool, and the other two movable welding tools can be moved in such a way that they seal off a compression chamber delimited by the width of the conductor section to be consolidated in a direction of its perimeter.

摘要: A method and device for welding pin contacts and socket contacts to an optical waveguide, the welding device has a contact loading station, a contact transport carriage, a laser welding device, and an electrical control unit. The contact loading station has a socket contact transfer device and a pin contact transfer device. The contact transport carriage has a pin contact holder and a socket contact holder. The contact transport carriage is displaceable between the contact loading station and the laser welding station. The electrical control unit controls the combination and number of socket contacts and pin contacts transferred from the socket contact transfer device to the socket contact holder and from the pin contact transfer device to the pin contact holder without having to re-tool the welding device.

摘要: A harness making device having at least two receiving sections, a pivoting gripping device, a cable preparation device, and a cable transfer. Each receiving section is utilized for receiving a connection mechanism. The connection mechanism, in each case, connects an end portion of a cable to a connector. The gripping device is located in a fixed position between the at least two receiving sections, and is constructed to guide the end portion of the cable to the connection mechanism. Additionally, a cable preparation device is positioned to prepare a cable loop with the cable. The cable transfer, which is constructed to receive the at least one cable from the cable preparation device, positions the cable to the pivoting gripping device.
