    摘要: A floating first electrical connector 11 (such as a receptacle) has a plurality of contacts adapted to mate with complementary contacts carried by a second electrical connector 21 (such as a plug). The receptacle 11 has a limited floating movement within the plane of an opening 12 in a panel 13 (of a power supply or other electrical apparatus) and a retaining clip 17 is snapped over the receptacle 11 (from externally of the power supply) to releasably secure the receptacle 11 on the panel 13, yet accommodate the limited floating movement of the receptacle 11. The receptacle 11 is retained by the retaining clip 17, externally of the power supply, but the receptacle 11 is only accessibly internally of the power supply. The arrangement permits a smooth engagement between the contacts on the plug 21 and receptacle 11, respectively, either by an axial sliding movement or by a relative angular movement therebetween. A flange 28 on the retaining clip covers the opening in the panel 13 and precludes access interiorly of the panel.

    摘要: A lead frame assembly comprises a stamped and formed lead frame having spaced pairs of electrical terminals and other contact sections. Severable sections initially interconnect potential electrical circuit sections of the lead frame separating the lead frame into separate metal members defining discrete electrical circuits if severed. A dielectric covering is molded over the lead frame exposing the pairs of terminals and other contact sections for termination or electrical engagement. Openings are formed in the housing exposing the severable sections of the lead frame for severing, to be selectively severed creating separate electrical circuit sections, or to be retained unsevered, as desired. After the molding of the covering over the lead frame, the article thus fabricated can be customized by selective severing and connecting of components as desired. Thus a method has been described for making a customizable lead frame assembly.

    摘要: An electrical connector for electrical connection to conductive members of a ceramic chip carrier comprises first and second dielectric frame members each of which has opposed side members in which electrical terminal posts are secured at spaced intervals with top sections extending above upper surfaces of the side members and bottom sections extending below bottom surfaces of the side members. Rail members extend between respective side members of each of the frame members so that when the frame members are nested together the rail members of one of the frame members are disposed in engagement with the rail members of the other of the frame members. Latching members on each of the frame members latch the frame members together thereby forming a chip carrier-receiving area so that the top sections of the terminal posts can be electrically connected to respective conductive members when the ceramic chip carrier is positioned within the chip carrier-receiving area.

    摘要: A connector assembly for an anti-skid hydraulic braking system comprises a bulkhead connector extending through an aperture in a sidewall of the brake fluid reservoir, a connector harness mounted along the inside of the reservoir sidewalls extending from the bulkhead connector to three solenoid assemblies mounted on the reservoir floor, and a solenoid connector on each solenoid assembly in engagement with the connector harness. The solenoids extend through floor apertures into the master cylinder to respective hydraulic lines extending to brake cylinders in the wheels, one of the solenoids handling both rear wheels. The bulkhead connector mates with a connector outside the reservoir which is terminated to a wire harness connected to the on-board microprocessor to relay current to the solenoids when data from individual wheel speed sensors is processed to determine that a particular wheel is about to skid. The solenoid for that wheel is then instantaneously actuated to momentarily decrease hydraulic pressure in that wheel's brake fluid line. The connector harness is planar and can be bent around corners between adjoining sidewalls of the reservoir. Contact sections on path members of the harness are exposed to be engaged by spring arm contact sections of the bulkhead connector and the individual solenoid connectors. The harness is made by overmolding spaced cover portions over a stamped lead frame and then severing the individual path members from each other, and the path member can be bent between the cover portions.

    摘要: A connector assembly for an anti-skid hydraulic braking system comprises a bulkhead connector extending through an aperture in a sidewall of the brake fluid reservoir, a connector harness mounted along the inside of the reservoir sidewalls extending from the bulkhead connector to three solenoid assemblies mounted on the reservoir floor, and a solenoid connector on each solenoid assembly in engagement with the connector harness. The solenoids extend through floor apertures into the master cylinder to respective hydraulic lines extending to brake cylinders in the wheels, one of the solenoids handling both rear wheels. The bulkhead connector mates with a connector outside the reserovir which is terminated to a wire harness connected to the on-board microprocessor to relay current to the solenoids when data from individual wheel speed sensors is processed to determine that a particular wheel is about to skid. The solenoid for that wheel is then instantaneously actuated to momentarily decrease hydraulic pressure in that wheel's brake fluid line. The connector harness is planar and can be bent around corners between adjoining sidewalls of the reservoir. Contact sections on path members of the harness are exposed to be engaged by spring arm contact sections of the bulkhead connector and the individual solenoid connectors. The harness is made by overmolding spaced cover portions over a stamped lead frame and then severing the individual path members from each other, and the path members can be bent between the cover portions.

    摘要: A snap action switch comprises stamped and formed stationary electrical contact members and a spring blade contact member. The stationary contact members and the spring blade contact member are secured in respective dielectric housing sections that are secured together forming a housing member with the planar free end of the spring blade contact member in electrical contact with one of the stationary contact members while the other end of the spring blade contact member is secured in its housing section. The other end of the spring blade contact member and the stationary contact members extend exteriorly of the housing member and are in the form of post sections for insertion into holes of a printed circuit board. The spring blade member has an arcuate compression member which, when the spring blade member is unstressed, extends out of the plane of the blade member and tension members on each side of the compression member which are located substantially in the plane of the blade member. An actuating member has engaging sections directly engaging the tension members and an actuating section extending through a hole in one of the housing sections which, when engaged by an operating force, moves the tension members to further stress the spring blade member and move the free end thereof out of contact with the one stationary contact member and into electrical contact with other stationary contact member with a snap action.
