    摘要: A method is disclosed for the formation of an image comprising the steps of(1) image-wise exposing, in the presence of a photopolymerizable compound, a photosensitive element comprising a support and at least one photosensitive layer containing a silver halide sensitive to actinic radiation, an organic silver salt and a reducing agent,(2) heating said photosensitive layer while in contact with a receiving element and allowing non-photopolymerized compound in the non-exposed areas to transfer and penetrate in said receiving element, and,(3) separating said receiving element from said photosensitive element.The obtained image can be a useful visible image produced on at least one of the separated elements, or it can be a hydrophobic polymer image on a hydrophilic background formed in the finally separated-receiving element which is usable as a printing plate. In the former embodiment the receiving element comprises a support and a layer containing a pigment, e.g. carbon black. In the latter embodiment the receiving element must comprise a hydrophilic surface, e.g. a support coated with a hydrophilic layer, or a metal support having a hydrophilic surface.The photopolymerizable compound preferably bears one or more functional (meth)acrylate groups. Most preferably this compound is chosen from particular classes of reactive multifunctional monomers.

    摘要: A liquid developer composition for rendering visible electrostatically charged areas. The composition contains in an electrically insulating non-polar carrier liquid having a volume resistivity of at least 10.sup.9 ohm.cm and a dielectric constant less than 3, dispersed coloring matter acting as toner particles and at least one onium salt polymer including recurring units incorporating an onium group together with an anion. The anion has at least one of the following characteristics:(1) contains a negatively charged atom or group of atoms which is sterically embraced by at least two non-ionic substituents containing at least 4 C atoms;(2) contains a negatively charged atom which is sterically embraced by at least 4 atoms selected from the group consisting of oxygen and halogen;(3) contains a negatively charged atom or group of atoms the negative charge of which is delocalized over other atoms linked to said atom or group of atoms;(4) is a radical anion,whereby the onium salt polymer is adsorbed with a net positive charge on the toner particles. An illustrative onium salt polymer species is a copolymer of isobutyl methacrylate, stearyl methacrylate and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate that has been quaternized with methyl iodide and of which the iodide anions have been replaced by tetraphenyl boride anions.

    摘要: Method of forming thermal transfer dye images comprising exposing a recording element comprising at least one layer of an organic photochemical imaging composition comprising a heat-diffusible dye (precursor) monomer, said layer being permeable to said dye (precursor) monomer, to an image-wise distribution of actinic radiation to create a change in its permeability corresponding to said image-wise distribution of actinic radiation, wherein said change in permeability is brought about by the radiation-induced polymerization or crosslinking reaction of said organic photochemical imaging composition combined with a concurrent copolymerization or crosslinking reaction of said heat-diffusible dye (precursor) monomer, bringing said recording element in contact with an image-receiving element, overall heating at least one of said contacting elements to cause diffusion of the heat-diffusible dye (precursor) monomer from the areas having unchanged permeability and transfer to said image-receiving element, causing in the case of said dye precursor monomer reaction of said transferred dye precursor monomer with a reagent present in said recording element, in said image-receiving element, or in a fluid medium applied to said image-receiving element, to convert said transferred dye precursor monomer into a dye. The invention also provides a recording element for use according to this method.

C. in the range of 20 to 200 Pa.s, said powder particles comprising a coloring substance, a polymeric binder which consists essentially of a copolymer of:(1) styrene or styrene homologue,(2) an alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate monomer wherein alkyl is a straight chain of at least 8 carbon atoms, and(3) a crosslinking monomer containing at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups,the binder copolymer constituting more than 50% of the total weight of the powder particles.
