The liquid crystal display has a lower panel including a first pixel area having a first pixel electrode and a first light leakage preventing member, a final pixel area having a second pixel electrode and a second light leakage preventing member, and middle pixel areas disposed between the first pixel area and the final pixel area, each of the middle pixel areas including a first middle pixel electrode and a second middle pixel electrode. Accordingly, light leakage may be effectively prevented at the first pixel area and the final pixel area that are disposed on the edge.

    摘要: In a display panel and a display apparatus having the display panel, the display panel includes array and opposite substrates. The array substrate includes display and peripheral areas. Gate and source lines are formed in the display area. A gate driving part and first and second clock lines are formed in the peripheral area. The gate driving part outputs gate signals to the gate line. The first and second clock lines respectively transmit first and second clock signals to the gate driving part. The opposite substrate is combined with the array substrate and includes a common electrode layer. The common electrode layer has an opening portion patterned to expose the first and second clock lines. The exposed portions of the first and second clock lines have substantially the same area. Thus, delays of the gate signals may be minimized and distortion of the gate signals may be prevented.

A gate line transmits gate signals; a first data line transmits data voltages; a first voltage line alternately transmits a first voltage and a second voltage that is than greater than the first voltage; a first switching element is connected to the gate line and the first data line; a second switching element is connected to the gate line and the first voltage line; a first pixel electrode is connected to the first switching element; and a second pixel electrode is connected to the second switching element. The first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode form a liquid crystal capacitor along with the liquid crystal layer, and at least one of the first voltage and the second voltage is variable.
