Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to perform noise estimation for frequency-domain equalizers of high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) receivers are disclosed. An example method comprises measuring a total power associated with a code division multiple access (CDMA) signal received through a plurality of multipaths, measuring a plurality of channel responses for respective ones of the plurality of multipaths, measuring a plurality of noise plus inter-path interference powers for the respective ones of the plurality of multipaths, and estimating an additive noise power for the received CDMA signal based on the total power, the plurality of channel responses and the plurality of noise plus inter-path interference powers.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to perform frequency-domain equalization in high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) receivers for wireless channels with large delay-spreads are disclosed. An example method comprises computing a first frequency-domain equalizer (FDE) coefficient for a first set of multipaths, computing a second FDE coefficient for a second set of multipaths, computing a first equalized signal by equalizing a received code division multiple access (CDMA) signal with the first FDE coefficient, computing a second equalized signal by equalizing the received CDMA signal with the second FDE coefficient, delaying the first equalized signal by a delay difference between the first and the second sets, and combining the delayed first equalized signal and the second equalized signal.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to perform fractional-spaced channel estimation for frequency-domain equalizers in high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) receivers are disclosed. An example method comprises computing a first fractionally-spaced time-domain channel estimate from an oversampled CDMA signal, and computing a first chip-interval frequency-domain equalizer (FDE) coefficient from the first fractionally-spaced channel estimate.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to perform closed-loop transmit diversity with frequency-domain equalizers in high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) receivers are disclosed. An example method comprises receiving a first signal representative of a first code division multiple access (CDMA) signal received from a first transmit antenna and a second signal representative of a second CDMA signal received from a second transmit antenna, computing a first channel estimate for a first path from the first transmit antenna to the receiver, computing a second channel estimate for a second path from the second transmit antenna to the receiver, and computing a frequency-domain equalizer (FDE) coefficient for the first path based on the first and the second channel estimates.

Abstract:
In a first embodiment, Tetraethyl Orthosilicate Si(OC2H5)4 is used at the process temperature of 650° C.±5° C. as film forming material, to decrease crystal defects occurring during deposition. In a second embodiment, annealing is carried out in sparse oxygen gas atmosphere after deposition, to mend crystal defects that occurred during deposition. In a third embodiment, initial temperature of the CVD device is kept at about 400° C., whereby the start of natural oxidation of the deposition surface is prevented and production circumstances of the semiconductor element is not deteriorated. Then, the CVD device is heated up to CVD temperature of about 750° C. or about 650° C., to deposit oxide.
Abstract:
A webbing for restraining a vehicle occupant, having a webbing length increasing device which is folded over and sewn together along a transverse direction of the webbing, and when a load applied between a vehicle occupant and the webbing length increasing device exceeds a sewing strength of the webbing length increasing device, stitching of the webbing length increasing device comes undone, the webbing length increasing device having at least a first sewn-together portion and a second sewn-together portion, the second sewn-together portion being provided at a webbing fold tip end side of the first sewn-together portion and having a sewing strength which is smaller than a sewing strength of the first sewn-together portion. Load applied between the vehicle occupant and the webbing, when a length of the webbing is increased at a time of sudden deceleration of a vehicle, is reduced gradually.
Abstract:
A roller leveler comprises a raisable upper work roll group, and a lower work roll group, the upper and lower work roll groups being arranged in a zigzag form so that the axes of three work rolls adjacent to each other at upper and lower sides and three points of intersection with the plane crossing these axes may make three vertexes of an isosceles triangle, with alternate lower work rolls in the lower work roll group being raisable to act as upper work rolls when a relatively thick hoop is leveled.
Abstract:
A device for roasting meats having meat holding portion, a casing, a guide lever, a spring body, a roasting portion, and a lever for operation. In this device, the meat is roasted from both sides in the roasting portion and movement of the meat into and out of the roasting portion is performed by a remote control from outside of the casing. The roasting portion, grills, for roasting and guide rails which guide the grills to the roasting portion are secured in the casing. Further, a heating opening is provided at the upper surface of the casing so as to use the heat in the roasting portion to keep roasted meat warm.
Abstract:
An electromagnet is secured to one end of a tug rope which is to be paid out from a tugboat towards a ship to be tugged, and the electromagnet consists of a plurality of relatively movable magnetic pole members, and hence the whole magnetic pole surface of the electromagnet is composed of a plurality of magnetic pole surfaces of said magnetic pole members. Thus, the end surfaces of said magnetic pole members may accommodate themselves to the curved surface or non-irregular surface of the hull of a ship to be tugged due to the relative, independent movements of the respective magnetic pole members, thereby bringing each of the end surfaces of the magnetic pole members into intimate contact therewith, whereby the end of the tug rope may be rigidly secured to the hull of the ship by means of the electromagnet thus facilitating connection of the tugboat with the ship to be tugged, in positive, safe and simple manner.
