摘要： An image forming apparatus, in which an image forming method is performed, includes an image forming device to form an image on a recording medium, a reading device to scan the recording medium having a position detection mark and generate a scanned image, and circuitry to calculate a plurality of correction values to adjust a position of the image to be formed on the recording medium, based on the scanned image. The circuitry is configured to calculate a first correction value based on a first scanned image generated from a first face of the recording medium, calculate a second correction value based on a second scanned image generated from a second face of the recording medium, and calculate a third correction value to adjust a position of an image to be formed on the second face, based on the first scanned image using the first correction value.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device configured to form a. first image on a first side of a recording medium and a second image on a second side of the recording medium, a position detector configured to detect respective positions of the first and second images, and a controller configured to perform, based on detection results obtained by the position detector, at least one of an image position correction by matching the first and second images and a magnification error correction by calculating and correcting a magnification error of one of the first and second images relative to the other. A program product used in the image forming apparatus includes a method of forming the first image and the second image, detecting the respective positions of the first and second images, and matching a position or a size of the first and second images.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an information obtainer, a memory, a candidate determining unit, and an image forming device. The information obtainer obtains feature information from the target recording medium. The recording medium information is identification information. 摘要： A sheet discriminator, which can be included in an image forming apparatus, includes an optical information detector, a sheet distinguisher, and a sheet thickness detector. The optical information detector includes a light emitter to emit light to a recording medium and a light receiver to receive the light and detects information of the recording medium. The sheet distinguisher distinguishes a type of the recording medium based on the information detected by the optical information detector. The sheet thickness detector includes a displacement gauge to sandwich the recording medium with an opposing member disposed facing the displacement gauge and to move from an initial position thereof and a displacement detector to detect an amount of displacement of the displacement gauge. The sheet thickness detector detects a thickness of the recording medium based on detection results obtained by the displacement detector.
