摘要: System for removal of targeted pollutants, such as oxides of sulfur, oxides of nitrogen, mercury compounds and ash, from combustion and other industrial process gases and processes utilizing the system. Oxides of manganese are utilized as the primary sorbent in the system for removal or capture of pollutants. The oxides of manganese are introduced from feeders into reaction zones of the system where they are contacted with a gas from which pollutants are to be removed. With respect to pollutant removal, the sorbent may interact with a pollutant as a catalyst, reactant, adsorbent or absorbent. Removal may occur in single-stage, dual-stage, or multi-stage systems with a variety of different configurations and reaction zones, e.g., bag house, cyclones, fluidized beds, and the like. Process parameters, particularly system differential pressure, are controlled by electronic controls to maintain minimal system differential pressure, and to monitor and adjust pollutant removal efficiencies. Reacted sorbent may be removed from the reaction action zones for recycling or recycled or regenerated with useful and marketable by-products being recovered during regeneration.

摘要: An electronic control system for regulating operational parameters in a pollution removal system. The pollution removal system may contain at least one reaction zone connected to a source of gas and a sorbent feeder containing a supply of sorbent. The system may include a pollutant concentration sensor that measures the concentration of at least one target pollutant in a gas exiting a reaction zone, a differential pressure sensor that measures the differential pressure across a reaction zone, a sorbent feed rate controller that regulates sorbent feed rate to the reaction zone, and a controller in communication with these elements. The controller may use the measured values to adjust sorbent feeder rate to ensure that the target pollutant concentration in a gas exiting the reaction zone is within an acceptable range and that differential pressure across the reaction zone is no greater than a predetermined level.

摘要: Methods and systems for regenerating and pretreating oxides of manganese and precipitation of oxides of manganese from manganese salt solutions. Oxides of manganese, a slurry containing oxides of manganese or manganese salt solutions are mixed with heated aqueous oxidizing solutions and processed in a continuous process reactor. Temperature, pressure, Eh value, and pH value of the mixed solution are monitored and adjusted so as to maintain solution conditions within the MnO2 stability area during processing. This results in regenerated, pretreated and precipitated oxides of manganese having high or increased pollutant loading capacities and/or oxidation states. Oxides of manganese thus produced are, amongst other uses; suitable for use as a sorbent for capturing or removing target pollutants from industrial gas streams. Filtrate process streams containing useful and recoverable value present as spectator ions may be further processed to produce useful and marketable by-products.

摘要: An electronic control system for regulating operational parameters in a pollution removal system. The pollution removal system may contain at least one reaction zone connected to a source of gas and a sorbent feeder containing a supply of sorbent. 摘要: Methods and systems for processing metal oxides from metal containing solutions. Metal containing solutions are mixed with heated aqueous oxidizing solutions and processed in a continuous process reactor or batch processing system. Combinations of temperature, pressure, molarity, Eh value, and pH value of the mixed solution are monitored and adjusted so as to maintain solution conditions within a desired stability area during processing. This results in metal oxides having high or increased pollutant loading capacities and/or oxidation states. These metal oxides may be processed according to the invention to produce co-precipitated oxides of two or more metals, metal oxides incorporating foreign cations, metal oxides precipitated on active and inactive substrates, or combinations of any or all of these forms. Metal oxides thus produced are, amongst other uses; suitable for use as a sorbent for capturing or removing target pollutants from industrial gas streams or drinking water or aqueous streams or for personal protective respirators.

摘要: The invention relates to systems and processes for treating particulate oxides of manganese useful as oxidizing sorbents for capturing or removing target pollutants from industrial gas streams, including, but not limited to, nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur oxide (SOx), mercury (Hg), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), other totally reduced sulfides (TRS), and oxides of carbon (CO and CO2) gases. Oxides of manganese are washed an aqueous oxidizing solution, which may be adjusted as necessary to maintain the oxidizing solution a desired range of pH (acidity) and Eh (oxidizing potential) within the MnO2 stability area for aqueous solutions. The resulting treated oxides of manganese are equally or more efficient as sorbents as the oxides of manganese processed with the invention.
