    摘要: An apparatus for supplying a fluid to a passageway in a cutting tool includes a housing having a rotatable spindle thereon, the tool being releasably supported on the spindle for rotation therewith. A cooling medium supply ring rotatably supported on a shank portion of the tool has a first surface which faces substantially radially outwardly and slightly in the direction of rotation of the tool. A coupling head on the housing has a second surface thereon positioned for sealing engagement with the first surface when they are brought into angular alignment through rotation of the supply ring caused by frictional engagement of the supply ring and rotating tool. Fluid passes from a passageway in the coupling head through aligned openings in the first and second surfaces, into passageways in the supply ring, and then through an opening in the shank portion of the tool and into the passageway therein.

    摘要: A boring tool for working a small diameter bore in a workpiece having a shaft of circular cross-section comprising a clamping portion for supporting the tool and a neck portion extending forwardly therefrom. The forward end of the neck portion carries a cutting plate. The cutting plate is located entirely within the circular cross-section of the neck portion, except for a cutting point on such cutting plate which extends somewhat laterally beyond the circular cross-section of the neck portion. The neck portion has a channel of semicircular cross-section which spirals from the front end thereof toward the clamping portion of the shaft, the spiral being in the directions of rotation and of feed of the workpiece with respect to the tool. In a modification, a cuttings breaker is mounted to overlie the cutting plate, extends close to the cutting point and has an axially extending cuttings breaking channel running the length thereof parallel to the axis of the neck portion and opening toward the cutting plate. Such cuttings breaking channel conveys cuttings from the cutting point to the spiral, circular cross-section cuttings channel in the neck portion.

The device includes a fitting pin projecting axially from the first tool part and a connecting sleeve projecting from the second tool part and having a mating bore for receiving the fitting pin. A tightening mechanism equipped with a tightening bolt movable in a crossbore of the fitting point assures a sufficient planar surface to planar surface tightening between the two tool parts. Aside from the tightening in direction of the tightening bolt, a clamping of the fitting pin into the mating bore of the connecting sleeve is achieved through suitable measures, the clamping extending transversely with respect to the tightening-bolt direction and resulting in an automatic centering of the tool parts with respect to their common axis and in a reinforcement of the connection transversely with respect to the tightening-bolt axis.

The polygonal cutting bit has a plurality of cutting edges of equal length, of which two are in engagement with the workpiece at each time. For the purposes of improved centering of the borer, these two operative cutting edges each form approximately the same angle to a line parallel to the borer axis. A plurality of cutting bits at different radial distances may also be arranged in the boring tool, with two cutting edges of each cutting bit being in engagement with the workpiece and the working regions of the cutting edges of adjacent cutting bits each overlapping somewhat.
