Abstract:
A method and apparatus for operating a satellite system including different satellites that may belong to different types of satellite constellations. In some implementations, the satellite system may include a LEO satellite constellation and one or more non-LEO satellite constellations that can be used to increase the forward link capacity of the LEO satellite constellation, for example, by allowing an LEO satellite to offload at least some of its forward link traffic to one of the non-LEO satellites. The user terminals can dynamically switch forward link communications between a LEO satellite and a non-LEO satellite while maintaining a return link connection with the LEO satellite.
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for wireless communication at a base station with improved PBCH construction and decoding. The base station apparatus constructs a PBCH payload, wherein a bit location is selected for encoding a plurality of bits of the PBCH based on an estimated reliability for the corresponding bits location wherein the plurality of bits comprises frozen bits, unknown bits that are unknown to a user equipment, and potentially known bits that are potentially known by the user equipment. The apparatus transmits the PBCH payload in at least one of a plurality of SS blocks. A UE receiving the PBCH decodes the PBCH based on a successive decoding order. The successive decoding order may be based on an estimated reliability for the corresponding bits, e.g., in which potentially known bits are decoded prior to unknown bits.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are described in which an unlicensed spectrum is used for Long Term Evolution (LTE) communications. A first method includes performing clear channel assessment (CCA) to determine availability of an unlicensed spectrum, transmitting a request-to-send (RTS) signal to a set of user equipments (UEs) using the unlicensed spectrum when a determination is made that the unlicensed spectrum is available, and receiving, in the unlicensed spectrum, a common clear-to-send (CTS) signal and an individual CTS signal from one or more of the UEs in response to the RTS signal. A second method includes transmitting an RTS signal in an unlicensed spectrum or a V-RTS signal in a licensed spectrum, addressed to a set of UEs, and transmitting a CTS-to-self signal in the unlicensed spectrum along with the transmission of the V-RTS signal.
Abstract:
A method of encoding video data includes encoding a quantization parameter delta value in a coding unit (CU) of the video data before coding a version of a block of the CU in a bitstream so as to facilitate deblocking filtering. Coding the quantization parameter delta value may comprise coding the quantization parameter delta value based on the value of a no_residual_syntax flag that indicates whether no blocks of the CU have residual transform coefficients.

Abstract:
A variable clock control information generator receives graphics engine activity data relating to the operating level of a graphics engine, and memory activity data relating to an activity level of memory. In response, the variable clock control information generator produces graphics engine clock control information and memory clock control information with respect to each other, such that a relative difference between the graphics engine activity data and the memory activity data is within balance threshold data. Accordingly, the variable clock control information generator adapts to the varying levels of graphics engine activity and memory activity and adjusts the frequency of the graphics engine clock signal and the frequency of the memory clock signal to achieve a balanced relative activity level.
Abstract:
A method using various heuristics techniques for resolving ambiguity in location determination in environments with or without noise. A final location determination solution may be determined from a set of ambiguous location determination solutions by using clock temporal bias value, by using consistency information of ranging signal order such as the time of arrival and/or the received power level of the ranging signals, by using the distances to the sources, and/or by using other discriminator functions to select the final location determination solution from a plurality of ambiguous location determination solutions. The main advantage of the heuristic approaches is that redundant measurements are not required for location determination solution disambiguation.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for beam splitting using multiple antennas are disclosed. An example wireless networking device includes an antenna system having a plurality of antennas; and a controller configured to determine directional antenna weight vectors (AWVs) directed substantially towards other wireless networking devices, determine a split beam AWV from the directional AWVs, and configure the antenna sub-system to form multiple wireless communication channels over the determined split beam AWV between the wireless networking devices. A split beam formed by the wireless networking device according to the split beam AWV maximizes a minimum gain towards, or provides at least a preset threshold minimum gain towards, each of the at other wireless networking devices.

An electronic device for generating a masking signal is described. The electronic device includes a plurality of microphones and a speaker. The electronic device also includes a processor and executable instructions stored in memory that is in electronic communication with the processor. The electronic device obtains a plurality of audio signals from the plurality of microphones. The electronic device also obtains an ambience signal based on the plurality of audio signals. The electronic device further determines an ambience feature based on the ambience signal. Additionally, the electronic device obtains a voice signal based on the plurality of audio signals. The electronic device also determines a voice feature based on the voice signal. The electronic device additionally generates a masking signal based on the voice feature and the ambience feature. The electronic device further outputs the masking signal using the speaker.
Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described herein that facilitate distributed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) or cooperative multipoint (CoMP) communication in a wireless communication system. As described herein, multiple cells, such as a serving cell and an auxiliary cell, can cooperate to conduct communication with one or more associated terminals. In one example described herein, an associated core network can exchange data and/or control signaling with a single cell communicating with a given terminal, which can then tunnel respective data and/or control signaling to other cell(s). By doing so, CoMP communication can be made transparent to the core network and can be achieved without requiring changes to the network. As further described herein, a terminal can exchange Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) assignments and/or other information exclusively with the serving cell in addition to or in place of other information exchanged with a serving cell and/or an auxiliary cell.
