Abstract: A method for controlling operation of a manure arrangement (10) that includes a manure storage structure (3), an agitator (11), and an agitator motor (8) arranged to actuate the agitator (11). The method including monitoring (S1), while mixing manure in the manure storage structure (3) with the agitator (11), a load quantity indicative of a load on the agitator motor (8). The method further including controlling (S2) operation of the manure arrangement (10) based on the monitored load quantity. A manure arrangement (10) arranged to perform the method is provided.

Abstract: A pump for immersion in a fluid reservoir has an extensible body and a fluid conduit. The length of the pump may be varied in order to accommodate a variety of reservoir fluid heights. The pump may be pivotable relative to at least a portion of a frame in order that the entrance angle may be adjusted. The pump has a bottom housing with a bottom inlet and at least two, preferably at least three, tangential fluid outlets that are upwardly angled towards the conduit. The outlets may be merged with the fluid conduit. An impeller within the housing is shaped to transfer fluid tangentially and upwardly within the housing to co-operate with the upward angle of the outlets. These features reduce fluid pressure loss and thereby increase fluid flow rate through the pump for a given input power.

Abstract: A floating manure agitator that floats on the surface of a manure lagoon and that may be remotely controlled to agitate manure supernatant into a slurry with sludge settling on the bottom of the lagoon. The agitator is provided with a plurality of fluid outputs, the direction of which may be controlled to motivate and steer the agitator. The outputs are angled to develop vortices of supernatant into the sludge to further mix the materials into a slurry.

Abstract: A mixing system for a fluid tank is described, the system having a drive motor, an impeller, a shroud enclosing the impeller and a cutter mounted on the shroud to cut solids. The shroud is open at inlet and discharge ends for drawing in and discharging fluid from the tank. A recess is provided on the internal surface of the shroud, wherein the cutter is adjustably positioned within the recess. The cutter is detachable from the recess to allow replacement. In use, homogeneity is maintained in a slurry contained within the tank by submerging the impeller such that the cutter cooperates with the impeller to cut solids within the slurry, drawing tank contents into the impeller at the inlet, cutting material between the cutter and blade, and then discharging the material.

Abstract: An apparatus for mixing and pumping manure slurry from a manure pit comprises a pump unit having first and second mixing rotors and a pumping rotor. In operation, the first mixing rotor draws solids downwardly towards the pump unit while the second mixing rotor redirect a portion of the solids drawn by the first mixing rotor away from the pump unit, thereby allowing to control the ration of solid contents in the slurry pumped by the pumping rotor. A non-diverted flow distribution arrangement is also provided for selectively connecting the pump outlet in straight-through flow connection with either a drainage pipe or a re-circulation pipe.

Abstract: An apparatus and system for separating manure and sand in animal bedding is disclosed. The system separates the manure and sand by using a separator filled with water that agitates the sand/manure mixture with air and water. The manure removed from the separator is further processed to remove excess water from the manure. A spinning or centrifugal device is used to remove excess water from the manure.

Abstract: Portable apparatus for agitation of animal waste materials collected in a livestock confinement pit which can be inserted into tubes passing through the sidewall of the pit is disclosed. An elongated housing in which is mounted a high speed propulsion screw and a hydraulic drive mechanism is shown. Abstract: An apparatus for agitating and pumping a liquid slurry, such as liquid manure slurry. The apparatus includes a pump which is adapted to be positioned within the lower end of a pit that contains the slurry, and the pump is operably connected to a motor which is located above the pit. The motor-pump unit is mounted for sliding vertical movement on a fixed column and can also be rotated horizontally relative to the column to vary the position of the outlet of the pump during agitation of the slurry. The apparatus also includes a means for tilting the motor-pump unit with respect to the fixed column. When the pump is raised to a location adjacent the top of the pit, the motor-pump unit can be tilted in a vertical plane to move the pump out of the pit to a position where it can be repaired or maintained.

Abstract: A manure storage pit pump for attachment to a tractor having a power output shaft and a hitch means for loading manure into a liquid manure transfer tank mounted on a vehicle such as a spreader vehicle or a truck, or for agitating manure in a storage pit. The pump includes a support frame for detachable engagement with the hitch means, and an elongated main frame having one end operatively supported by the support frame. An elongated drive shaft is rotatably carried on the main frame and it is operatively connected to an impeller means which is carried on the main frame. The drive shaft is operatively connected to the usual tractor power output shaft for rotating the drive shaft. An auger means is operatively attached to the drive shaft for moving manure from the manure storage pit into the impeller means. A transfer pipe means is operatively connected to the impeller means for receiving manure from the impeller means and selectively conveying the manure either to the tank on the spreader vehicle or truck, or back into the storage pit for agitating the manure in the storage pit.
