摘要: A prosthesis including a subacromial spacer having a surface contoured to maintain an acromion in chosen distance to a humeral head upon rotation and fixation means to fixate the subacromial spacer to a humeral medullary cavity and/or an intramedullary fixator implanted or configured for implantation in the humeral medullary cavity. A surgical kit includes the prosthesis and a proximal humeral nail. The fixating means are connectable into a proximal opening of the proximal humeral nail. A method may include: creating a percutaneous passage from an outer-body space to a portion of a humeral head; removing bony tissue to facilitate direct communication between the outer-body space and a humeral medullary cavity enclosed in the humeral head; providing a prosthesis including a subacromial spacer having a surface; and/or fixating the subacromial spacer to the humeral medullary cavity and/or an intramedullary fixator implanted or configured for implantation in the humeral medullary cavity.

摘要: A shoulder implant device includes one or more fixation features including an acromial intrusion element and an inflatable humeral balloon portion that receives a fluid through the acromial intrusion element. The intrusion element comprises a valve that can receive multiple needle sticks to add or remove fluid to or from the inflatable humeral balloon. The device is implanted in a subacromial space such that the one or more fixation features at least secure the device to the acromion and the inflatable balloon portion rests against the proximal end of the corresponding humerus. Fluid in the balloon portion maintains separation of the acromion and the humerus to reduce or prevent impingement.

摘要: The present invention features an acromial-humeral prosthesis for use in performing acromial-humeral arthoplasty. The prosthesis is useful for cases where massive, irreparable tears to the rotator cuff have occurred. The principle function of the prosthesis is to prevent superior migration of the humeral head. An acromial tray is inserted using a specialized insertion tool. The acromial tray is held in place against a prepared inferior surface of the acromion by a pair of screws. A concave, disc-like polymeric component is affixed to the bottom of the acromial tray by sliding the component onto one or more matching rails on the inferior surface of the acromial tray This component is relieved to accept the long head of the biceps tendon anteriorly and the greater trochanter laterally. The inventive prosthesis helps prevent non-anatomical articulations of the humerus and other inappropriate glenohumeral kinematics.

摘要: A prosthetic glenoid for use in the shoulder is comprised of a cup having three flanges. To prepare the shoulder for implantation of the cup, the glenoid fossa is reamed to a depth at which the acromion, coracoid, and lateral portion of the scapula form a tri-flanged configuration. The cup is proportioned to be positioned in the reamed glenoid fossa such that each of the three flanges of the cup corresponds to one of the three bones forming the tri-flanged configuration of bone.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a shoulder prosthesis. The shoulder prosthesis includes a glenoid component, a humeral component, and an articulation component. The glenoid component includes a glenoid body having a proximal side and a distal side, the distal side shaped to engage with a resected portion of a glenoid cavity. The humeral component includes a humeral body having a proximal side and a distal side, the distal side shaped to engage with a resected portion of a humerus. The articulation component is positionable between the proximal side of the glenoid component and the proximal side of the humeral component, the articulation component configured to be maintained between the glenoid and humeral components, after implantation, by at least one of a deltoid muscle and a rotator cuff.

摘要: The present application concerns a shoulder prosthesis assembly. The shoulder prosthesis assembly comprises a humeral stem including a first articulating coupling means, a base portion of a substantially disc shaped geometry including a second articulating coupling means. Said first articulating coupling means and said second articulating coupling means connect the stem to the base portion. The ratio between the circumference of the disc shaped base portion and the peripheral thickness of the disc shaped base portion is at least 18:1.

摘要: A bone joint repair and replacement assembly. A first portion comprising a bone plate is configured to attach to a distal or proximal end of a bone proximate the joint, generally coaxially with an axis defined by the bone. A second portion comprising an articular surface is configured to attach to the first portion, generally normal with respect to the axis, and inserted into the joint. Although versions of the assembly can be configured for use with several different pivotal joints, the invention is particularly suitable for full or partial replacement of an elbow, wherein the articular surface is pivotally attached to the first portion. Another embodiment of the invention is provided to repair a fractured bone head proximate the joint, and still another embodiment of the invention is provided to repair rotator cuff-related shoulder injuries.

摘要: A cutting guide for removal of bone during arthroplasty. The cutting guide includes a housing having a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes an attachment mechanism adapted to couple the housing to the bone during arthroplasty and the second portion including a wall defining a continuous path. A blade for cutting the bone is also included, such that the blade slides along the arcuate recess, cutting the bone in a shape matching the continuous path.

摘要: A method and system for the creation or modification of the wear surface of orthopedic joints, involving the preparation and use of one or more partially or fully preformed and procured components, adapted for insertion and placement into the body and at the joint site. In a preferred embodiment, component(s) can be partially cured and generally formed ex vivo and further and further formed in vivo at the joint site to enhance conformance and improve long term performance. In another embodiment, a preformed balloon or composite material can be inserted into the joint site and filled with a flowable biomaterial in situ to conform to the joint site. In yet another embodiment, the preformed component(s) can be fully cured and formed ex vivo and optionally further fitted and secured at the joint site. Preformed components can be sufficiently pliant to permit insertion through a minimally invasive portal, yet resilient enough to substantially assume, or tend towards, the desired form in vivo with additional forming there as needed.
