    Abstract: A powered unit is selectively attachable to a wheelchair to convert the wheelchair into a three-wheeled vehicle of considerable stability and capable of operating at relatively high speeds. The powered unit includes a frame structure coupled to a cylindrical member for pivotably receiving a fork assembly including a wheel and steering means in the form of a handle bar assembly. A gasoline powered engine is mounted on the frame structure so as to frictionally engage and drive the wheel. A pair of support legs of adjustable length extended downwardly from the frame structure so as to function together with the wheel to support the powered unit in an upright position when the powered unit is not attached to a wheelchair. Coupling of the powered unit to a wheelchair is accomplished by inserting and locking tubular members of the frame structure within mating tubular members fastened to the frame of the wheelchair, raising the front end of the wheelchair so as to elevate the front wheels thereof above the ground, and pinning the tubular members to hold the wheelchair in the raised position. With the support legs shortened so as to clear the ground, the resulting three-wheeled vehicle can be driven under the power of gasoline engine and steered by the handlebar, with one-handed control of the vehicle being made possible by a pair of handlebar mounted controls which respectively control engine speed and braking of the front wheel.

    Abstract: A three-wheel pedal-style wheelchair which includes a roller at a side, close to the ground, of the wheelchair, wherein the roller prevents the wheelchair from turning over, a steering wheel arranged at a side of the wheelchair, and two front wheels respectively arranged at two opposite sides of the wheelchair, wherein the two front wheels comprises a driving wheel led to rotate forward or backward by a user stepping and a loose wheel, wherein when the wheelchair turns to a direction in a small radius, the steering wheel is considerably rotated to a direction and the driving wheel is rotated forward, wherein when the wheelchair turns to another direction, the steering wheel is considerably rotated to a direction and the driving wheel is rotated backward.     Abstract: A wheelchair driver having a simple, efficient structure is mountable to a horizontal frame extension of a wheelchair between a wheel and the wheelchair's frame. The driver is mounted directly to a spindle sleeve fastened to the horizontal frame extension which provides a race for the driver to run upon. The spindle sleeve also isolates the driver from the wheel preventing any friction between the wheel and the driver. The driver has a lever extending upward from the spindle sleeve above the tire of the wheel. A handle is provided on the uppermost end for a user. The lever has a pawl extending over the tire of the wheel. The pawl has teeth on a lower surface and contacts against the tire. When the lever is rotated around the spindle sleeve, the pawl teeth grab the tire, causing the wheelchair to move. When the lever is stopped or rotated oppositely, the pawl teeth release the tire and allow the wheelchair's momentum to move the wheelchair until another forward rotation of the lever provides additional force. Brake pads on the lever, adjacent to rims of the wheels, are forcible against the rims, providing the user with a wheelchair brake. The wheelchair driver provides a user with a safe and efficient method of wheelchair motivation which does not require gripping and releasing of any moving part of the wheelchair.
