Abstract:
An arrangement comprising an optical element and an indication member for a drug delivery device is provided. The indication member comprises a plurality of indicia. The optical element comprises an imaging section and a light-transmissive non-imaging section, wherein the indication member is movable with respect to the optical element such that the indicia can be successively moved into a display position relative to the optical element. The imaging section is configured such that, when a first indicium is arranged in the display position, the first indicium is imaged by the imaging section into an imaging solid angle. The non-imaging section is configured such that light defining a second indicium is deflected by the non-imaging section such that the second indicium cannot be identified by a user in the imaging solid angle on a viewing side of the optical element.
Abstract:
The disclosure is directed to a drive mechanism for use in a drug delivery device having a cartridge, the mechanism comprising a base element, a toothed piston rod movable from a first retracted position corresponding to a full cartridge to a second extended position corresponding to an empty cartridge, wherein the piston rod is guided within and movable relative to the base portion, and a drive gear having a pinion, which is rotatably held in the base element and in meshed engagement with the toothed piston rod, wherein the toothed piston rod comprises multiple rigid rod pieces which are connected by hinges, and a drive spring, which is fixed to the base element with one end and fixed to the drive gear with another end and which exerts a force or torque to the drive gear for rotating the drive gear relative to the base element, which rotation results in a movement of the toothed piston rod. The drive spring is charged during manufacture or assembly, wherein the energy stored in the drive spring is sufficient to move the piston rod (from the first to the second position. The disclosure is also directed to a drug delivery device.
Abstract:
The present invention is generally directed to a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament. The device comprises a housing (10), a dose selector (80) operable to set a dose by rotation relative to the housing (10), a number sleeve (60) arranged within the housing (10) such that at least a portion of the number sleeve (60) is visible through a first aperture (11b) in the housing (10), a piston rod (30) coupled to the housing (10) and to a drive sleeve (40) such that rotation of the drive sleeve (40) relative to the housing (10) causes the piston rod (30) to translate relative to the housing (10) and a clutch mechanism arranged between the number sleeve (60) and the drive sleeve (40). The clutch mechanism comprises a first interface (42, 62) for rotationally constraining the drive sleeve (40) and the number sleeve (60) depending on the axial position of the drive sleeve (40) and a second interface (43, 121) for rotationally constraining the drive sleeve (40) and the number sleeve (60) via a clutch element (120) depending on the axial position of the drive sleeve (40) and/or the bias of a clutch spring (130).

Abstract:
Airway adapters and suction catheter systems, and methods of using the same, are described herein. An exemplary airway adapter assembly may comprise a connector body portion having a first end and a second end. The connector body portion may define an elongate cavity having an axial center between the first and the second end. The exemplary airway adapter assembly may also comprise a valve coupled to the second end of the connector body. The exemplary airway adapter assembly may also comprise a ventilation base member comprising a tubular portion coupled to the second end of the connector body portion and ventilator port. The ventilator port may comprises a conduit having a first conduit end and a second conduit end, and the first conduit end may be coupled to the tubular portion through an articulable connection. An exemplary closed suction catheter system may comprise a suction control valve assembly and a closed suction catheter sheath.
Abstract:
A medication injector apparatus such as an injection pen. The injection pen includes a resettable, cartridge plunger drive assembly including an axially floating nut, a cartridge plunger engaging screw, and a drive clutch movable with the nut and which when rotated causes the screw to screw through the nut. When a cartridge assembly is mounted to the pen base, the floating nut and drive clutch are shifted proximally such that the drive clutch is in torque transmitting engagement with a rotatable drive member of the pen, such that rotation of that drive member results in drive screw advancement through the nut in the distal direction. When the cartridge assembly is not mounted to the pen base, the floating nut and drive clutch are biased distally to disengage the drive clutch from torque transmitting engagement with the rotatable drive member and to thereby allow the drive screw to be reset proximally through the nut to a position more retracted within the pen base. The injection pen also may include an injection clicker assembly having a collar arranged coaxially on a drive sleeve and which oscillates axially on the drive sleeve that rotates during medication dispensing to provide an audible clicking sound that indicates injecting use of the pen. The injection pen also may include a doseable quantity identifier that uses a rotational matrix and a sensor for electrically sensing the arrangement of the dose setting mechanism of the pen, which identifier may be part of a therapeutic dose indicating system that utilizes a cartridge recognizer to recognize a concentration of medication so as to allow an automatic determination of a therapeutic dose. The injection pen further may include an assembly for selectively rotating a drive sleeve of the pen, which assembly has a dial that rotates out during dose setting and which translates in without rotation during dose injecting.
